I don't doubt Monsterbaby's skills. Nor do I doubt Brian's. I think that MB's professional opinion on how a 4R100 should be built differs from Brian's. Both have their experiences and opinions. I build & maintain servers for a living, and not everyone does it my way, or agrees with me. Is their build, or mine, wrong? No. They both work, and work well. MB's experience(s) with BTS has led to his opinion. Others (I'm sure) have similar opinions, but none of them have stepped up publicly. That's a shame. I believe that open discussion is the best way to sort things out, so long as we all keep our heads and stay respectful.
Dennis from ITP: Thank you for your post. I have & will continue to buy products from you. I can build servers & motorcycles; Super Duty parts will come through you (and others). While I do like to do things myself, your expertise & efforts are worth my dollars and are appreciated.
BTS: If I need one & can afford one, I'll probably buy it if I can.
Kris: Locking the thread would only leave unfinished business, but I don't really disagree with you. We all have better ways to spend our energy, but I don't know that this could come to a 'good' conclusion. Your motives are spot-on.
MonsterBaby: I respect your opinion, but think it would have been better to give full details on your experiences that led to your opinion first. Lay the groundwork, then the conclusion. What you voiced may be 100% professional opinion, but came across as a personal attack.
We all have our heated moments, but as ShayB said, these are things. Inanimate objects. Parts. They don't need our respect or understanding. It's the human factor that calls for those things.
I don't post much and this site has been great. But this thread has been disheartening.

Reason: spelling
While you don't post alot on our forums, I would like to point out to everyone why you probably don't. Most of the time when a sponsor such as yourself gets involved with a post, people will accuse you of just "trying to sell your product." I see it all the time over on TDS. And it just turns into a big pissing match. I honestly believe that FTE is not like that. Sure there are a few loose cannons on here, but I wouldn't think to the level that would cause you to leave us.
Not really as I'm not a "link bomber" (a sponsor that typically pops into every post about a part they sell with "Buy it Here" links). I'm not saying that never happens, but it's usually when someone specifically asks "who has xyz" and they're looking for places to "shop" and compare prices, otherwise I tend to just try to answer questions and let the links in my signature handle the advertising.

I understand that in the end, when people come up with their own solutions, that sometimes cuts into your sales. Maybe that's the reason you spoke of, I don't know.
I have no problems with DIY'ers, but there are some people that are so militant about doing it themselves that they make vendors out to be "rip off artists" because we need to not only recover our materials costs, but also the labor costs and make some kind of profit. That's what I was referring to...when I come to FTE and see someone ask about a product that I've put a LOT of work into and someone else always plays the "you can build it cheaper yourself" card every time, it negates the effort I've put into the product and essentially suggests that I'm ripping people off. I find my self wondering "why did I pay to advertise on a site that seems to be so against me selling my products?"
This is what I saw going on with the BTS VB stuff in this thread...suggesting that BTS is ripping people off because they have to cover the parts cost, labor costs, overhead and make a profit so they can keep doing it day in and day out. They're operating a business, just like I am, and in order to keep the doors open and continue to exist, there has to be enough profit to pay the bills, pay yourself (and your employees if you have them) a salary and put something back into the business bank account to use to grow the business.
Will I be ripping people off more when I start offering Valve Bodies? This is already in the works and I hope to have them soon. They will be built by a well known and reputable Ford Transmission Shop and offered because there are a LOT of situations where tuning alone won't make these trucks shift right. I sure hope that MB doesn't start calling me a theif and con-artist over it!

I agree with you, which is one of the reasons I chose to have BTS reinstall the deep pan on my trans when they built it. Brian has his reasons for not liking them, but he's not so closed minded that he refuses to put them back on. Oh yea...Yes, I do sell trans pans.
Obviously, MB has some information that may be worth considering if you're planning to go to BTS. If you're in that boat, PM MB and get more details privately, and then take his experience and balance it with that from others as well, then make your own decision and go with it.
This is probably one of the best suggestions yet...almost.
I would add that considering the number of transmissions BTS has built for every possible application (racing, sled pulling, RVing, daily driving, etc.) and considering their reputation for building a quality product and backing it up with a great warranty, I would take what MB has to say with a grain of salt. While I'm not discounting MBs technical knowledge or experience with the 4R100, he obviously has a bone to pick with BTS for some reason as shown by his use of derrogatory terms like conman. With feelings like that, I don't see it as likely that any PMs sent to him will result in any kind of positive reply about BTS...I expect that most/all of his PM replies will be similar to what he's said here. In the end, he's but one opinion in a sea of them and neither his status as a moderator here or his self-pronounced expertise with the 4R100 are enough to outweigh all of the positive results that countless BTS customers have been getting for years. Of course...that's just my opinion, consider it with the others and make the decision that's best for you.
For what its worth, I drive a 500+hp truck. I don't have a BTS tranny in it.
I have a tranny built by a local Ford Tech, master ase, and all that other crap.
He has a tranny in several high hp trucks, one I know of is right at 600 ponies, who knows how much torque because it flatlined it on the dyno.
He used to build tranny's on the side for people, drives a stroker and has a 9 second mustang he built. He quit building tranny's on the side because of the hassle and family time it ate up.
When anyone calls him asking tranny questions, and wanting to have one built. He will only recommend one place. BTS.
I would highly suggest that anyone who is thinking of a tranny, to take everything in consideration, do some research on the net, not just this site, shoot go to some lightning forums and some 4x4 forums, and see just exactly how much negative stuff you can find about BTS. Sure you will find some, why? Because you can't please everyone, plain and simple. But I will say this, if you have 14000 satisifed customers and 10 unsatisfied (numbers purely hypothetical) then I would venture to guess that you have a pretty good idea of what your doing and how to do it.
I will also say, that Brian would never come onto a public board and call anyone a liar or conman.
I would have to disagree with F250_'s advice about asking MB about his experience by PM. MB brought it to the open forum. He should have to explain his stance with proof on the OPEN FORUM. I know very little about trannies. I have no stake in the fight but MB has now created this mess and he should be the one to finish it with his thoughts and statements that back up his name calling. I don't know MB and I don't know anyone at BTS but to come on an open forum and slander somebody with no info to back it up is wrong!
who are you kidding! I see a swimming pool hand rail there in the back ground! you caught that in your back yard! LOL. nice fish whats it weigh and measure?
I don't want to get yelled at for being a hyjacker ,but I do feed the smaller fish some pond food so the big fish can eat the small ones.(Just like the real world).I just came in from fishing ,it's a nice thing to live on a lake ,,,go out an fish come in a drink,no driving,It's a win win.
WOW! First time I've EVER seen anything negative about Brian or his goodies.
Well there is a common thing on another forum I frequent,,
"A moderator on this site is a member, just like you're a member, and my opinions are no more valid than yours." SOOO I guess MONSTERBABY is a prime example on not being an expert, just because he is a "Moderator"
They are also supposed to set examples for the users, and not personally attack anyone, sponsor or not....
That said, from someone that has dealt with BTS several times, and know 10 others who have personally, you will find NO ONE who has better customer support, and takes care of you better than BTS. NO ONE!

Sounds like a win-win! I would just need my water-ski and my ski boat and I'd be a happy girl there. Livin' in my swim suit and crocs all the time would be a dream come true.
Cool fish though.
