Anyone had a poppng noise that is felt in the steering when turning right or left.I just had it in to the delaership and they say it's normal.I have driven many of the 06 F250 SD and they don't have the popping in the steering.
It was normal on the 93-97 trucks. The rivets on the front crossmember would stretch and there would be a little play in things causing a popping sound when you went from lock to lock. It was common enough ford issued a TSB on it. The way they fixed it was to cut out the rivets and replace them with bolts, problem is that in 6 months even the bolts would stretch a tad and they would pop too. Only way to truly fix it was to weld everything up and we all know FORD would never authorize a field repair like that. That is probably what the dealer was thinking of. There should be no "popping" sounds on the newer trucks. It is not normal and there is something wrong with that particular vehicle.
