Really tired of getting my a$$ kicked by these stinking duramaxes. I'll tell ya what I've already done then maybe I can get some feedback on where to go from there. 2001 F250 4x4 Platinum, 7.3 w/auto tranny running on 35's. My upgrades include 4" banks from turbo back, GTP38R turbo, AFE stage 2 intake, Super chips 1705 programer and a Diablo power valve for tanny. I have a couple of buddies that have stock (other than lifted on 35's) 05 & 06's and they can out pull me on a hill with compatible trailers, and out accelerate me in a 1/4 easily. I know I could spend lots of bucks but let's see where this goes. Thanks.
Dump the Superchips and Diablo for a Dp Tuner to beat your buddies. Better be thinking injectors, New HPOP, and Trans for those Duramaxxes. Just add intake, exhaust, and tuner. They can out run us anyday. It is hard to be new technology.
Yep -- they're pretty d@mn fast... If I can just not get beat like a red-headed-step-child I'll be happy. I may go turbo, big-oil, & injectors someday, but for now I'll keep the $$$$ in my pocket for something else........like a tranny....
Sounds like I have only a few choices... Spend a quite a few dollars and maybe I can keep up or, if I can't lick'em I might have to join'em. Not sold on the durability of that engine though. Maybe I can just secretly hope that one of them will blow a head....
Big injectors and oil is a must if you want to try to compete with them. You could do a cummins swap, then trick that motor out, then you'd be able to out pull and out last them easily, this all behind the blue oval
They might win the speed race but race them to 300,000 miles and see who wins. Also, we look waaaay cooler than they do.
Um hmm, yep, T.O. hits the nail on the head.
7.3= durability, longevity, and a great looking truck.
dmax= go fast for short time, hell, it doesn't even ride like a truck, much less work like one.
Well I definetly agree with all that's been said. Love my truck so guess it's time to spend a few green backs. Only got 85,000mi on her anyway. I bet changing my gears to 4.10's will put me over the hill ahead of them too.
Singles are louder and cheaper splits are quiter and more exspensive. I believe most guys run the singles. I would have gone with splits if i could've on my 7.3, either way I would recommend your to the beans Diesel Performance website. They are a great company and make some awesome injects for our rigs
