I have watched this site for 6 mounths and now my first post . As you can tell I can,t tipe to save a life!!!! here goe,s I have a 037.3 with 4" turbo back with no cold gate/ A htt 88mm turbo with 4" k&n cold air intake / edge with attude / and two pyro's 1 befor and 1 after. the ploblem is I cant pull my 5 whl. with out droping gears the trans is auto and rear gears are413. I will get to over 1300 be for I evan get started. Even when not loaded it will run 700-1000 on a small grade 1/4 mile or so. (help!!!!!) Darn!!!! the truck is A 03-7.3 /6" lift with 35s and arb's frount and rear.....<S. p and front arb?s 35?s lift 6? cab crew 4x4 f-250 a it?s oh! (HELP!!!!!!!) egt?s 700-900 is it fwy the on truck emty an have I win Even rear.!!<>
Big tires, heavy trailer= high EGTs with stock 3.73 gearing .
Also, not sure how hot those Edges run.....what setting are you in?
Most 7.3 owners prefer a custom tuned multi position chip (DI, TS, DP, BTS, Elite, TW, etc..).
well you sure you dont have boost leak, that 700-1000 sounds little much , i would drop the K&N and look for Soot buildup aroud up pipes and exhaust, downpipe, and the baby Butt in the back of the turbo, common problem if the turbo is replaced and not seated properly , will leak boost and jack up your EGT's

I have tryed the K&N off and no change!!!! the up pipe doe nuts have been replaced and the butt /up pipe manofold is not leaking !!!! the exhaust is not leaking!!!!
the trailor is about 1200 loaded and 9000 emty!!!! there are 5 settings on the edge and I have run from stock to tow-60hp and no change onthe egt"s but more hp!!!!-- the water temp is ok aswell as the trans!!!!
pete----I took the edge off complety and still had high egt"S . I gotr the truck with the larger turbo and the egt"s have been that high all the time!!!. I called htt turbo and they said that it must be In the fuel???????
Well that makes sense. The turbo is basically a heat, pressure and velocity powered pump. When you have alot of pressure and velocity, the engine is making heat from the load. The turbo actually uses this heat to spool (and keep spooled) the turbo. The EGTs when the turbo is not "working" should almost be the same, but under a high load it should be alot less, 200-400* difference.
Something You could do is remove the intercooler, run boiling hot soapy water through it, and see how much oil you get out of it. The stock crankcase vent system runs it through the intake, and alot of it settles into the IC. That is a long shot, however worth a try, its free. Clean and dry it very well, and see if that changes anything. If you don't want to change the tuner ( Edge products is very base-level) i'd recommend a Spearco intercooler upgrade from blackwidowdiesel.com
