Duke,

That's great man...I'm glad your happy with it. Keep checking around for different brands of the HD velcro if your not sure how long yours will last. I know the kind I have isn't going anywhere...I mean it's super strong. Hey, if you ever stop by Woodlands Performance....make sure you tell Shawn and Dana "hello" for me ok?

You might want to protect that relay so it will be protected from the elements. I was thinking about mounting a small plastic box to house a couple of relays or maybe just wrap the crap out of them with elecrical tape then zip tie the thing, but having exposed will cause premature failure.

I know this is a really old post but I recently did this install and replaced the 55w bulbs with 130w bulbs and the light output isn't that great at all. Any ideas why that would be?

not enough available amperage, or excessive parasitic loss due to undersized conductors, or even a poor ground

just make sure that your wiring can handle it. als the housings probably will get VERY hot and you might have other issues there.

Below is a pic of what I did when I ran wiring into a relay for a second fuel pump. It's just an outdoor plastic electrical box I painted black with epoxy paint. The lid has a foam gasket. All I have to do now is seal the bottom entrance hole where the wire loom goes into the conduit socket.

I don't think you even have to seal the box unless it is going to be submerged. You ran the conduit at the bottom, great work!
Just zip tie the loom inside the box so it won't fall down.
Where did you mount this?

I'll take some pictures fairly soon of my install.
I dropped the tank and ran 2 #10 from front to back along with 4 #16 for control. All done in Loom. Easy to follow the oem wiring harness all along the frame. In the engine comparment there is a 20 and 30 Amp multibreaker for each "hot" respectively. the control wire is for the relays. total of 4 different (future)functions. The 4 cond. is that ribbon you get for utility trailers so it's all nice and neat, The #10 is double insulated trailer brake wire. I had to find #10 as #12 is everywhere, but if a guy is going to do any serious trailer hauling, #10 is worth the search.

I think if I remember I used 14 gauge wire all the way back. Ground seems to be good. I did not splice into the reverse lights it is manually switched on through one of the upfitter switches

Thanks. You can barely see the zip tie on the right hand side of the box where I tied the loom to a set of open holes in the cab. The box is right inside the bottom cab panel under the driver side door, between the exterior body panel and the frame. In fact, the dark piece of plate you see mounted vertically on the far right end of the picture is the front mounting plate on my step bar.

The loom actually rides up and over the frame member, near the cross member, and down to the fuel pump. All of the install pics are in my gallery in the "Lift Pump" and "In-Tanks" folders.

I installed the same lights (as Bear hunter) under my truck last weekend. I was a little disapointed though, I thought they would be a little more brighter. Can the 55w bulbs inside be changed for something brighter?
