Bulldog,

Here are some pics of my old truck with the undercarraige lights. I mounted them the same way on the new truck but used different lights underneath (I used the same ones that were in the bed of my old truck below). Reason, I did that was because they are smaller and have a better pattern:

Old truck...mounted to fire accross to the other side (due to AMP steps being in the way)

I used these lights on the new truck (shown in bed of old truck)

You can pick them up at Walmart and the box looks like this:

Old truck with lights on... I wired them the same way as the reverse light diagram with the following exception...primary trigger is the dome light wire for the relay and the secondary trigger is an in cab switch with diode.... so the lights come on when you hit the key FOB, or open the door, or if you turn on the interior lights using the dimmer switch. The seperate switch described above (secondary trigger) allows you to turn them on without having to turn on interior lights, or open the door.

i have a question for everyone. is the following possible using a spdt switch. First throw would be lights on demand (i Figured this out with the diagram). Second throw to be triggered by the reverse lights. The off position would be no aux reverse lights at all. I don't alway need the aux light to come on.

Oh almost forgot:

Bear:
i had a question on the H3 100W bulbs you used. Is H3 the type of bulb? I googled it and found plenty. However, i'm not sure if just any h3 bulb would work or are they manufacture specific.

Thanks in advance for your help!!

I would add a couple things I did when I installed a set of PIAA reverse lights. (Pics in gallery)

First, the PIAA kit came with a harness that had the relay, etc in it. I used a different 3 way switch though. I have "on", "off" and "auto". Auto means they go one with the reverse lights.

I mounted them under the hitch where there were existing holes. The PIAAs are short enough profile that they look fine in that location.

Finally, they are installed with another relay in line so that they only work when the parking lights are on. I figured there is no reason for them to be on during the day..and if I turn them on to see while hooking up the trailer, etc...the light reminder will chime to remind me to turn them off.

Excellent idea, Matt. Thanks for the input.

I think it would be illegal too. I have been pulled over for running with my high beams- i couldnt imagine having to explain this reverse spotlights to a cop.

I am gonna do this, though. I really like it. But I am gonna put them on a manual switch.

It would be nice to have a manual switch for it, but is there a way to hook it up on a remote wire and so it will shut the lights off if you forget about them when you shut the truck off?
