Since this thread is current, I thought I'd ask in here instead of making a new thread.
I want to install 1-2 Grover Emergency air horns. I will be using them for responding to fire/ems calls in my truck. I'd also like to be able to air up my 315/75R16 tires to 50psi. I don't want to spend a LOT of money so if anyone can point me in the correct direction on what size tank and compressor I will need. Thanks!

I have the 5 gallon tank with the viair 380c,so far its great. It works my MK1 train horns. And airs up my stock tire to 60 psi in about 1 minute.
Like i said it works great for me,and you can get the compressor and tank for about $250.00 on ebay.
I finally got all the parts ordered yesterday for my train horn setup. Below is what I ordered.....
Seige Engineerining..
Kong MK1 horns
Safety Valve
Pressure Gauge
Hornblasters..
Pressure Switch w/built in relay
12 Gallon Tank ( I have not seen pictures yet from JK2404 but he has two of them under his Super Duty.. so they should fit)
4x4 Connection
ExtremeAire Severe service air compressor 3/4" HP 4 CFM Free
Egauges.com
AutoMeter Phantom Series air pressure gauge
I will get the 1/2" ID commerical hose/fittings from Grainger. Hopefully we be here by the Friday or Monday. I will start fabricating brackets and wiring this weekend... Work on the wiring schematic for my setup today....
Hopefully will be a kick butt system when done...
Exposed; Will that pressure gauge go to 200psi or more?
The pressure gauge is good for 150 PSI. That is the working pressure of the compressor I am buying. I figured with full 1/2" ID hose from tank (12 gallons) to valve and then to the horns, should be plenty of flow....
Nice digital gauge.. I considered buying one like that but bought the AutoMeter because my fuel gauge to the big tank is the same. I hated to buy both gauges since the other one is fine.... Also the dash in the truck is not digital so thought it would look better matching...
JP2404, Did you ever get a chance to post your shots? I am trying to figure out how you have mounted those two tanks.. That tank is 9" wide, 12 1/4" tall, and 44" long. Looks like it is going to hang down too low to me. I was assuming you mounted them under the cab and not under the bed.... I have the tank on the way and now getting a little nervious about it fitting now.... I was going to fabricate some brackets tomorrow afternoon. I am expecting the tank to be here tomorrow...
Thanks.....
hey Bevis .. i'm used to using a foot switch like you .. what I actually use for my truck though is a switch used for hand controlled trolling motors called a Big Foot. It's pretty cheap, and very durable - made to be stomped on all day with heavy amperage going through..it's more than you'll ever need ! .. here, take a look : http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/st...=SearchResults
That is a good idea.. I was debating on putting a toggle switch between main horn and the air horns from the steering wheel but hate to mess with the truck wiring... I guess your can screw the floor switch down to the floorboard to keep it in place....I will check that out..
thanks
