I'm a NYC FF. I got the Grover Stuttertone horn because I love the sound too. Real sharp and distinctive. And I have to say that with the momentary push switch, it is real nice and very responsive. You can give real quick short toots as well as lay on it. I'm extremely happy with it.
Keep us posted. I've been following this in the hopes of you guys finding a good reasonably priced set. The wife said she'd get a kick out of it. Who am I to deny her?!?
I've have my hammer 3 set for a week now and haven't had the time to hook them up to test them yet. Plus waiting for my 07 F250 to be delivered to the damn dealer, gonna have a very busy week installing my MBRP, gauges, sct and horn set. I hope the damn things sound as good as they say, have heard pros and cons bout siege but the price is sure right.
If so equipped, do y'all recommend wiring them to an upfitter switch? I'v been thinking about keeping the factory horn for normal use and using the big horn for the idiot who blasts his rap next to me at the stoplight.
I've have the 5.4L, and I've thought about mounting my compressor on a battery tray where the PSD's have their 2nd battery. My concern is over excess heat in that area. I believe my compressor from harborfreight has a breaker-like device that flips when it gets too hot. Should I just mount this on the frame under the cab to keep it cooler, like I've seen on trucks? Anybody mounted their compressor in this spot?
wbehm, mounting a compressor under the hood is where most people mount them for 4wheeling like we did in our jeeps. great place to mount it so it 1, doesnt get knocked off and 2, it should not over heat unless under constent use like filling up a tire to big without having an airtank
Have you looked under our hoods lately? Where would you mount it? I think most guys do mount the compressor where wbehm was thinking about doing it. I'm sure you can make a real nice steel encloser for it. I've seen a few on the board here. I think most have been pavement queens though. As for the trumpets, I can't see running chrome trumpets under the truck. Can you imagine the cleaning after one mud run or the first time you go over anything? I'd have to find a better spot where they'd last a little longer...
sgthawkusmc-thats what i was thinking of when my friend put his train horns under his truck. i know from experince that stuff under rigs does get torn off or broke from mud or even road debris. mounting the trumpets under the hood if possible would be the best place just because they are protected a little bit, but when you truck only sees street its probally a safe place to put them. i like hearing about people putting stockings over their horns to keep the mud and stuff out.
