I don't know how to pm anything other than text??? PM me your email address and I'll get it to ya. I'll try to put it in my gallery too. I refuse to become computer smart!!
I saw some responses to Siege-Engineering horns and most comments were good. I am looking the new MkII kits (link below)... Does anyone have these installed yet??? Also, is this kit adequate to run a 1/2" impact wrench as well as the horns?? (ofcourse not at the same time). Would a larger compressor or/and tank be a big benefit or just the standard package? It looks pretty complete and not a bad price...
thanks
i have a train horn, originally made in 1935 by Altoona steel works, the horn was from a GG1 electric Locomotive used by the Pennsylvania Railroad. The horn puts out about 200 desibles maybe alittle less, never thought of putting it on my truck since it weighs around 80lbs.

I have the MK1s that i just installed this weekend. They are SUPER loud.I have the 5 gallon tank.I think that the 3 gallon tank will run air tools, but with a limited air suppley.I went with the 5 gallon as i wanted a little more duration to run my air tools.

My kit is exactly the same, Except, mine is the MkI. I haven't tried the impact wrench yet. I need to do that. As far as the tank size, I think that was about all that would fit beside the frame rail. That is that diameter; longer would surely fit. I don't know if that is where you intended to install it. Back to the compressor, I have installed two quick disconnects (one on each end of the truck) however, haven't pumped a tire or used the impact wrench yet. I do know that almost every time I send out a 2 to 3 second blast the air compressor does cycle.
I'll go out right now and try the impact wrench and let you know.
I tried the 1/2 inch impact. It spun two lugs off easy. The compressor kicked on after the 2nd. I put the two back on with the impact wrench while compressor was running. I tried to remove another; it wouldn't do it. I started to remember this compressor is only rated about 1.5 cfms if I'm correct. I looked up the Husky brand impact wrench; it needs 5.4 scfms average. If you had two of those compressors, like some of the systems they do sell, you probably would not be able to run an impact wrench for any length of time.
My system has the 200 psi switch (operates between 165 and 200psi). I don't even have regulator between the tank and the quick disconnect. Maybe if I regulated the air down to 90 psi like the equipment is designed to work off, it would run longer (?) I just ran the hoses, front and back, Friday and haven't considered regulating the pressure until I started using the impact wrench.
I emailed those guys yesterday about the diameter and length of the 14 gallon tank. I did not hear back from them... I am sure it would take longer to recycle but would definitely give you much more volume of air to run an impact wrench or a longer hit on the horns. From picture, looks like the 14 gallon is made out of 10" or 12" pipe. That may be too big for me to mount as well. How big in diameter is the 5 gallon tank? It looks like 6" or 8" pipe from the picture. Looks like it fits beside the frame nicely. It looks like to me that these MKII horns are a good deal for the price...
thanks
I also asked them for the size of the 14 Gallon tank, and here are the dimensions 22in. long, 15in. wide, and 17in. tall. I am thinking of putting two on the outboard frame rails but haven't had time to see if they would fit yet.
DId they send you the size of the 5 gallon as well??? I will check this evening and see if there is any way to mount the 14 gallon tank. I would rather have that one than the 5 gallon..... I guess the other option will be to add two 5 gallon ones on each side outside the frame. I would rather have one tank and save the hassle of plumbing, chance of more leaks, and cost as well....
No, but I didn't ask for it either. I currently have two 12 Gallon tanks mounted to the frame behind the running boards. I can send you pictures if you are interested, just let me know. I have a Nathan M5 and a Leslie S5TFX that I will mount to the cab rack on the back of my truck, boy can those two use some serious air!
If you have pictures, that would be great. Those tanks are 12 gallon? I noticed Horn Blaster has a 12 gallon tank... Is that what you are using.... Siege only shows 5 then 14 gallon.....
thanks.. WIll be ordering a setup of some kind in the next day or so once I decided what will work best for horns, impact wrench and air ATV tires up....
JK2404, I was looking the HornBlasters site and I guess that is the 12 gallon tanks you are using. I looked under my 550 setup last night and I don't think I could use the 14 gallon tank because of the larger diameter. I can see where the 12 gallon one (44" long) must really fill up that area you have it installed. Are you taps coming off the side or top? If you rotate the tank 90 degrees minimize the height (mount to truck frame rails), the taps are on the top or bottom. Coming off the top would put you really close to the floorboards. Probably would be better to build a support bracket off the bottom of the truck frame to sit the tank on upright. THen come out the side for your discharge to the horns. I am really interested in your pictures to see how you managed that... I appreciate all the help....
thanks
