Air Filter

Hey guys, im looking into buying a new air filter for my 01 f250 and was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions on which brand i should buy i was looking at K and N but any help would be appreciated.

Are you looking for a new filter for the stock airbox? If so, just stay with the paper elements. If you are wanting to completely upgrade the intake, then the choice is pretty wide. You can research the 6637 mod, also called the "kwik mod" here on this board, and see how you can build your own intake for cheap (it will also filter much better than the stock airbox). Or you can check out some of the sponsors on the left and see what they have to offer. You can spend more than $400 on the top of the line AFE intake. It's up to you.

I am assuming you want a stock replacement filter, in that case I would stay with a Fram replacement, or Fram Airhog, or if you can find one...maybe a true flow. I dont know much about k&n filters except most people on here are gonna say that its no good, not worth the money. If you can find the fram filter that is a heavyduty replacement for the PSD 7.3L i used it for a while until I got a new intake. I know someone else will time in soon who knows more than me

Stay away from the K & N. For that matter, I would recommend getting away from the stock air box altogether. Stock boxes are known to not seal well and allow dust to be pulled in around what ever filter you have in. I use the 6637 and love the sound as well as the filtration I get.

6637, volant and S&B are all good. It just depends on how much you would like to spend. I run a S&B and love it. Good luck in your search.

I also run the 6637 and love the sound you can really hear the turbo.
As for the K&N it has been said that they allow way to much dust into the turbo causing it to grenade the turbo. If it where me I would go with the 6637 great mod for cheap.

I got the Volant intake forthe 7.3L and its awsome, but it takes some thinking to put it in cause the damn company doesnt know how to make install instructions lol. If you are gonna get an intake and want quality, definatly considder Volant and Airaid I give them both two thumbs up

. If you are a do-it-your-selfer than look into the "Kwik"mod but beware..that you cant blame anyone except your self it the thing fails or screws up your Engine.
