YO! CENTRAL TEXAS! LET's PARTY!
Be sure to look at the original announcement in this thread for the particulars. Need more info - let me know! Just remember to bring a lunch or stop by a McDonald's or something on your way so you don't go hungry.
This is an informal gathering of FTEs. It's been a while since anything happened in the CenTex area and we simply grew weary of all the talk about dates and locations so we just said - "this is it...this is when it is.....make it or not". We had to re-start somewhere.
It matters not if you're in the DFW area or passin' through from New Jersey. If you love Ford Trucks - you are welcome to joins us and I know that our event will be enhanced by your attendance!
Join us for a smile, a handshake and some stories (some might actually be true)!
Tokyo, huh? How's Haneda and Narita? Did you enjoy the shuttle ride? Was in the area in 2002 and 2005, scheduled to return to Okinawa and Iwakuni in June then off to Seoul and Diego Garcia. Fully understand your pain. Hope you're in First Class. 14-18 hours is a long time in coach.
Can't wait to share some stories of Japan.
Check this too. http://web.mac.com/ericaustin1/iWeb/Site/Welcome.html
Pain you say... left last Friday. Flight path was Aus to DFW to Narita to Taiwan to HK to Shanghai to HK to Narita ( here now) to DFW to Aus. Yea, I got pain brother. Cannot wait to get home!! ( Sorry to hijack the post, but since it is yours, noone should mind

. The map isn't very readable, maybe it will suffice to help others pinpoint it on their own map? EDIT: Wait a minute, that map isn't correct is it? I really wasn't even thinking about it when I made it.
EDIT2: map deleted for the time being
EDIT3
: My own arrow on the map. I have some serious sleep deprivation going on, so if this is messed up please forgive. Someone verify?

Or, use this map and 'Revise' the Starting location at the top. This map is from 620 and Research Blvd (183) to the destination. I think this will work anyway...

Yeah...I think I had the arrow too far west on the line map I sent you. I've since corrected it.
Cudos from the "gang" for your effort and support! You get the GOLD STAR (I'd give you one if I could just remember where I put it)!
See you on the 10th!

My friends - you have exceeded all expectations!!!!
Now: if we could just get a couple of dealers to bring out some of their '07s and maybe a few parts dealers or repair shops to join us...that would be great! Do you know of any? Any chance of them joining us? It costs nothing to ask!
Email me for the Word document with the official announcement and maps to the picnic!

Looks like we're getting noticed, gang!
I can tell you that our Chapter president in Houston is taking notice and is also taking a Wait-and-See position on our efforts.
================================================== ==
What we are doing hasn't been done in a long, long time. We need to demonstrate to the State and the NATION that Central Texas Ford Truck owners and Enthusiiats are fanatical! Thay they're passionate! That they are willing do do what it takes to show everyone that WE ARE THE BEST!
We need to demonstrate that this is not a "Flash-in-the-pan" event -- that we'll continue on a regular basis with our fellowship in some manner! Do you have the personal horsepower to make it work? I believe you do. Central Texas believes you do. The rest of the state and nation aren't too sure....they don't think we can do it.
I hope you bring plenty of witnesses and your camera because this is gonna be the biggest thing to hit Central Texas since the "Grateful Dead" never played at Round Rock High School (huh? what did he say?)!
WE'RE GONNA ROCK CENTRAL TEXAS WITH THE ROAR OF FORD TRUCK POWER!!
Join us. Break bread with us. Share a handshake, a smile, a story. You won't be dissappointed!
- 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (Wanna stay longer? Cool!)
- Mansfield Dam Overlook, Highway (FM/RR) 620 between Round Rock, US183 and Bee Cave (Hwy 71 West).
- Bring your own lunch (There may be food to share)
- Formal quarterly or semi-annual gatherings of this sort
- "Fun" awards for attendance (in work for this event)
- An annual "SCCA-Style" rally (Huh?)
- Sponsored activities (including lunches & dinners)
- "Fun" days at some racetrack
- "Trail-Rides" through the Texas Hill Country on differing "themed" routes to interesting destinations, i.e. Texas Forts Trail, Bluebonnet Trail, etc.
- "Dealer Days" for the display of the newest trucks from Ford
- Parts and upgrades Expo ("Trick Your Truck")
'Till then..keep the sunny side up and we'll see'ya at the "DAM" Picnic!
If you need additional info, let me know at lakerats@austin.rr.com - I'll send you a 2-page poster with all you need!
