DTC code

I just decided to check for codes and came up with a P-0528.Fan speed trouble.Anything I can do to fix it?Thanks and Happy New Year.

check to see if your fan clutch is plugged up. if it is, your fan clutch has gone bad.

your fan clutch is electronic. you have a connector coming from the side of it.

thanx bowtiehatr.The connector uder the upper radiator hose going into the fan shroud is hooked up.Is that the one?There is 5 wires coming to it and four going into the fan area.there is a blue wire going nowhere.is this right?

if the plug is all good.Could there be a problem with the harness or is it absolutly the clutch?

i would go more for the clutch than the harness. put to many of them on for codes.

is the clutch part of the 5/100,000?if not how much and how difficult to replace?thanks again.

i dont think so. the fan clutch is not that hard to replace, just no room to work. i would suggest removing the radiator as it makes it much easier. other than that, replacing the clutch is not bad all.

I have changed quite a few of these fan clutches for no-start conditions in the past, and seem to recall them not being covered by diesel engine warranty.

I might add that I have seen P0528 several times, and tend to disregard that code if it is not accompanied by a cooling system problem. It is not a code that will generate a CEL.

It probably won't show up as a problem until summer.....I would think you would want to take care of it by then.

That would be my suggestion, keeping in mind that you don't appear to have any cooling system issues.
