No. There's a 99% chance it's related to the wire under the passenger seat. It runs along the inside rail and has a cheap plastic connector. Mine will sometimes go off when my son stuffs his size 13 feet under the seat when sitting in the back. Straightening the wire and pushing the connector together has fixed it. Many people suggest disconnecting the battery before doing this due to a concern the airbag might go off. You might also check the warranty on the safety restraint system...it might still be covered.

Maybe. Take a look in the ranger forum. At the top there is a sticky thread about maintenace. There are procedures listed in that thread about how to use a jumper wire to get the codes.
