Getting to know you...
My name is John and I've lived in Manteca going on 19 years. Grew up in Tulare CA. California grown for almost 45 years. Been married for almost 23 years to Terri with 3 kids. 20 yr old daughter, 18 yr old son and my baby girl is 13.
I'm an Air Traffic Control Supervisor at NorCal TRACON in Mather. It is a terminal radar facility which handles air traffic into and out of the bay area, Sacramento, San Jose/Monterey/Salinas, and the northern central valley. I've worked for the FAA for about 19 years. Got my start with air traffic in the USNavy and it's been a great career.
I enjoy riding with my son and friends. He rides a 2006 YZ450F and I like playing it safe on four wheels (2006 Raptor 700). I also enjoy woodworking and collecting vintage hand planes/iron levels.
My ride is a 2004 F350 PSD Supercrew, only upgrade so far has been a 4" TB exhaust. Guages and chip to follow. Prior to my PSD, I had a 2001 F150 Supercrew, dependable ride but PSD envy got the best of me.
Hope to get the chance to meet and greet with fellow members and to gain valuable knowledge...It's my first (but not last) powerstroke.
John
I am from the great state of Ohio. I came to Cali in August of '03 at the direction of Uncle Sam. I live on Beale AFB (near Marysville/Yuba City), where I am a crew chief. I work on the U-2.
I was a chevy man untill about 2004. I was looking for a sports car and fell in love with a 2000 Mustang GT. I have been impressed with it. Of all the cars or trucks I have had over the years, the mustang has given me the least amount of problems. So I found the above f-250 and decided it was a deal I could not let pass by.
Once I get a few bucks put away, I want to pick up a mid 80's F-150 4x4 with a straight 6 to use for wheeling. But that is wife permitting. She wants quads. So we will see who wins.
I moved down here to Chico in order to take a job as an A.I.T. (architect in training). I am 32, have a girlfriend of 3 months, and a black lab mutt, both of whom will follow me home to MT (I really think I found the girl I'll marry, not that you care
). I started college at the tender age of 25 to get my master's degree in architecture at Montana State in Bozeman, MT, but got a bit burnt out after my 6th year. I gained 2 bachelor degrees in that time, but needed a change of pace.I owned my own construction business in Bozeman and usually employed 2-4 people full-time. We built custom homes (10-20 million dollar range) while I tried to complete my degree. You can understand why I needed a break, right? In August I will return to MT to finish my last semester, and we'll see where I end up after that...
Anyway, my truck is a '77 F150 body on a '76 F250 frame and running gear. Since I've bought the truck 2.5 years ago, I've put about $12,000 into it and countless hours. The truck is a daily driver that before I moved here also saw duty as my work truck hauling lumber and towing trailers. I have a worked 390 (1.5 years old), C6 with stage 2 mechanicals and shift kit (6 months old), stock Dana 60 rear-40 front with 4.10's (need 4.56's or better), 37" Irok radials, and various other upgrades (too many to list here).
Ok, enough about me. Nice to meet you all.
You need a hand drop me a line. I am only about 30 minutes away. I usually sit around the house on the weekends.
Thanks,
Karl
Thanks Karl.
I'll be poking around in between stereo builds and car shows. I'll be lookin to meet up with y'all at some shows soon.

My step-son bought one brand new, and has had it 6 years now. I like it - lots of get up and go, but still 22 mpg. Frankly, I have a hard time telling the new trucks apart - they all look and perform about the same.
As to your '56 - now there is a classic! I have a friend in the southern California chapter of FTE who also is a leader of Pickups Limited - they specialize in 53 to 56 Fords, although none are stock. I drive down there once and while to attend their functions. I know they have a Northern California group.

My name is Neal and I just joined the chapter. I live north of most of you, in Redding. I am 24 years old and I own a mortgage company with offices in Red Bluff and here in Redding. Looks like there is quite a few members from the bay and Sacto. Is anyone from around Redding? I currently own a 2000 F150 Lightning. I shaved the handles and put it on 22" KMC Condors. I have always been a Ford guy from back when I worked construction and cut firewood for a living. I came across this site while brainstorming for a project truck I have been wanting to do for some time. It is a great site that I know I will utilize. My project truck -How I found this site- is a 1984 F150 4x4 that i picked up from an old friend of mine for free (Minus $150 for back registration) it has the 300-I6 and is a single cab short bed. I have always liked the body style for an off road truck and had my eyes peeled looking for one with the I6 and ended up stumbling across it. My dad used to have an F150 with the same inline 6 that pulled a fifth wheel plus quads to the dunes and back no problem so I thought I could go for fuel efficiency and still have benefit of decent torque. My truck needs a new bed and supposedly has some valve / head issues. Luckily I just came across an 85 F150 4x2 with the 300 I6 (Running Great), 100% straight body with short bed and a 9" rear end for $500. I plan on lifting it6" and have already pulled out the interior. I am going to swap out the rear end for the 9" , drop the new motor in and swap out the beds. I want to pull out the complete dash, fabricate a sheetmetal dash and run aftermarket gauges. I want to be able to drive on the street, but be able to throw my dog in and go wheelin, camping and hunting without having to worry about the suede interior like in the lightning. I am going to Rhino line the interior or go with the rubber floor covering for easy hose-out cleaning. The closest truck I have seen to what I invision is from that movie "Walking Tall". Anyway- I look forward to my project and getting to know you guys (and probably ask some questions too!). All of my family is from Sac so I am sure I will be attending some FTE functions in the near future. I will have to get some pictures up here pretty soon.
-Neal
