Will see what I have after pulling the heads off. If it needs work I might have some fun with it other then that don't want to spend to much money.

my compression reads 150psi accross 1-6, 7 reads 60psi, & 8 was 90psi no change with the addition of oil.

wanted to say hi

what's happening all, my name is kifer and i just pulled out my 73 f100 4x4 out of storage. It's been parked since 2000 but due to some recent legal trouble i had to sell my new truck and pull out old bessy. It's a great truck but needs quite a bit of work. I'm looking forward to get it dialed in and ready to play. I'm trying to get it ready for me as well as my 9 and 5 yr old boys who love to play in the sand, mud, snow, jeep trails, but especially the dunes in pismo. I have a ton of questions so if any of you guys can help me out it would be greatly appreciated. The motor is good to go but i really need help with a suspension/lift kit for my truck. im a little confused about the kind of lift i need for the front end since it has bars criss crossing in the front with a shock attatched (sorry dont know the correct namefor it) hopeing to talk to someone real soon kifer in central cali Visalia by fresno thanks

Hey there SAMSNO1, welcome!

I don't have any info for you, but I am interested in the tire size question. I too would like to put some bigger tires on my 71 F250. However, I don't know how big I can go without rubbing.

I have thought about putting a 2inch lift on my 4x2 F250 to move up another tire size, but again, not sure if a 2 inch lift would buy much bigger tires.

If you don't get an answer, you might try posting the question in the 67-72 specific forum.

These guys have lots of answers...

I thought I'd bump this to the top for our newer members, so you can tell us a bit about yourselves and read a bit about us...at least, those of us who have posted here...

It's interesting to read back and see the things that have changed since many of us first posted in this thead.

Dan,
Can you stick this thread to the top, so it doesn't get buried again?

I also suggest we all update your info, especially what you are working on, or what your truck is, if things have changed. I looked at my post and it is really out of date.

Thanks Dan for rescuing this from oblivion.

Still in Fresno, still employed at same location, only difference now is my truck is a '85 Ranger 4x4 which gets much better gas mileage than my '76 F250 ever did. Had it less than a month so far, but plan to fix it up and use it as my daily driver/off road toy using a turbocharged 2.3 liter engine.

Turned 50 last Sunday, and my roommate bought me a computer with 22 inch widescreen LCD as a present. So I am a happy camper at the moment. I grew up in So Cal but moved up here to Fresno in Dec of 2003. Used to be a big photography nut, but have lost interest in that, and now just play on the computer, or work on my truck.

Okay, I've stuck it...but you should know that for some reason, people don't seem to see stickies, so it'll most likely get buried right out in the open...

I'll stick the Frapper link thread too...

Hey Hey, So I just joined this chapter...

I'm headed off to Cal Poly SLO after this summer for Electrical Engineering.

I'm an odd person. I am a complete computer nerd, but as you can see from the signature, I cant keep myself away from pickup trucks. I'm one of those stubborn types that will never take their truck to the shop no matter what. Anyways, this forum is amazing, so I hope I can get together with some of y'all and go wheelin' some time.

Maybe you can join us and turn a wrench, do a bit of welding, smack the crap out of some truck parts, and help us build Thumper.

Just a thought.

You might wonder what a Mecinoid is. It's a mechanical nerd. Well, I can't think of too many days that do not have a wrench in my hand working on some vehicle. I love to work on anything that moves !!!

I'm a Project Management Professional by trade. I work in the Computer/Networking/Systems industry. That is when I'm working. It's been touch and go the last couple of years for consulting and contracting work.

I own a bunch of different vehicles and justify a use for each one. Lol !!!
Started maintaining a '73 F100 for my father in law about 10 years. He decided to sell it to me (cheap) because he really knew I loved it. It was a love at first sight. ;-)
So, now I get to do all the things I've dreamt about. Well, at least the things I've dreamt about concerning the truck. She'll get a more powerful motor and better trans with a OX cable locker rearend and new paint job (get all the dents out) Other than that, she is pretty much what I want out of this truck. She has come along a lot this past year. I am most gratful to the people on this site. Thanks guys !!!
They have helped me out in so many ways.

So, you ask what have you done this year to your truck / the short list:

Stereo, Headers, Exhaust, Good set used tires, bedliner, toneau, carpeted the interior, new wood steering wheel, fixed blinkers, wired for trailer, installed tow bar base plate, replaced a bunch of old trim pieces interior/exterior, window reg, battery, electronic ignition, chrome air cleaner/valve covers, replaced all sorts of bulbs, lens, headlights, fire extingisher, etc....

I love to turn a wrench(duh), camp, four wheel, boat, ski(snow/water), work around the house, watch videos (rarely tune into TV), surf (the web), take pictures, and help where I can.

That should bring me up to speed with those that do not know me yet.
