What kind of mirrors were standard equpt on 65's? What can I get in the way of "very functional" but not gigantic?
What I have now are a nice set of stainless steel ones but they're huge. The mount is all below the window, 2 struts way down the door with a triangle on top. 5 bolts. Real sturdy. The mirror itself is on a 90 and the mounts are so big the 90 is on the inside. I do believe I could reverse them and be able see around 8 foot wide loads. This old truck is ready to haul anything!
I'm a painting contractor by trade and I'd like to fix this old truck up to do an occassional paint job out of it. A clean old work truck with my company name on the doors would be an excellent form of advertising, but the mounts just about cover the door.
So the big mirrors have to go. What do you guys like?
One of the mirros available in 65 was the small, 5"(about) round ones. Personally I like the looks of them. these are probably the easiest repro mirrors to find and they run about $55 each from LMC truck http://lmctruck.com.
They mount in a small rectangular hole near the wing window. If your truck has large mirrors, the hole is probably filled with a rubber plug. All you do is pop it out and bolt them in.

For 67 - to I forgot already but they look like they'd be fine on my 65. They have what the guy calls rare windscreen attachments? Bolts are rusty and one scratch on the RH mirror but the rest is stainless. This is an over and under the window type.
As far as I have read, no outside mirror came on these trucks as standard, except for the camper special. Anyone interested in a factory set of west coast mirrors from a '66 CS?
Bill, are you telling us those mirrors you have are bigger than camper specials? In the picture gallery of 65s there are some CS trucks with their original mirrors, are yours even bigger? DF

It's not that the mirrors themselves are so large. It's the mounts. They remind of those temporary towing mirrors that hang off of front fenders! LOL! Well, they're not that bad, but they cover the door.
The Camper Special mirrors mount above and below the window right?
These are defintiely not original eqpt either. They're heavy duty aftermarket stuff.

Found the picture gallery. My mirror mounts are bigger than anything I saw there! Didn't like the Camper Specials I saw much either. There were some with a simple bracket that didn't look to bad. Thanks for directing me.
Just bought a 1965 Camper Special F250 in December. The mirrors on it, which I'm assuming are original, are the larger style that mount with bolts above the window and on the door. They're corroded / rusted and I'd be interested in finding some new ones.
65CS250, I was stumblin' around E-Bay and found this site thru a link. www.blueoval.com. They have what they call Trucker Jr mirrors at $75 a pair. Used I think, but may be new? They are the up and over the window design and are listed for 67-to ... I forget.
A pair of these same mirrors from a private party just auctioned recently for $50. I was thinking about buying them but wasn't sure if 67's would fit right on a 65. I basically don't know enough to know what I want yet.
