Stewartwhy did you put the helwigs on? Did it still sway after the V/B code springs. Mine is a little touchy after the V/B and the gear box adjustment. Just seems to wander like the old quadra trac in the jeeps. I have correct air pressure in the tires and it tows pretty good with 6K lbs trailer.. Just think sometimes it is the trash roads here in SW PA.Doesn't seem to wander as much on good roads without the tire ruts. I have wondered if it was from the Michelin M/S tires.. Stock size and E rated..
I did just the Bilsteins on the stock springs for budget reasons... even though it is better than stock, I am still wanting to go with a stiffer spring to combat the "boat" feel when I hit a bump with the body sway and undulation.
Would you guys say the superduty springs help cure that feeling?

I'm new to the X world. I just picked up a 02 7.3PSD with 95k kms (60k miles) and it has the typical ride. Sounds to me like I'm gonna do the V/B code springs (with rear 4" blocks - unless there is a different spring you can use to elliminate the blocks), rear helwig, and rancho 9000s.
But I haven't heard anyone talk about bushings. So when you guys are doing these spring swaps, are you buying new spring bushings?
The bushings are already pressed into the spring eyes and most folks are installing newer (lower mileage) spring packs then the stockers so most everyone leaves the bushings alone. You can mod the rear B codes by replacing the B's between leaf spacers with the thicker spacers from the EX's pack as well as adding the bottom two leaves from the EX's pack, this should keep the rear lift about even with what the V's will give you up front without the extra cost of the taller blocks. (Still use the stock EX 2" blocks). If you read back to the beginning of this thread I think thats exactly what Stewart_H did.
For all those interested, here is what I added to the Ex:
Front V code springs: Part #2C3Z-5310-HA
Rear B code springs: Part #3C3Z-5560-CB
Left side 3.5" tapered block: Part #F81Z-5598-FA
Right side 3.5" tapered block Part #F81Z-5598-GA
...and the Bilstein part numbers if you use the above springs:
Front: BE5-2818 (OEM length for the F250 4x4)
Rear: BE5-6209 (OEM length for the Excursion 4x4)
And I topped it off with a Hellwig rear anti-sway bar.
Great write up Stewart. Question though...do you think these part #'s would also apply to my 2001 Ex?
I ask this because when I called Ford to check some prices they wanted to know either the part # OR what year vehicle the springs were for. He will not tell me which year F-250 SD springs would fit my truck. He said all he could quote me was for factory replacements on the Excursion or give him a part #. Factory replacements are useless since I want V Codes.
So I'm wondering if I should just tell them I need front leaf springs for a 2001 F-250?
I'm new to all this but I'm trying to absorb as much as I can.
