has anyone done the recall #05e15, something to do with the exhaust back pressure sensor and recalibration of the computer. someone said it so people can't use programmers or other aftermarket parts? just wondering before i decided to take it in?
DON'T, I REPEAT, DON'T DO IT!!! I had mine done a couple of months ago and I'm still trying to get my truck back running the way it used to. I have a '05 F-250 with the 6.0L Power Stroke and it's been a lame duck ever since they did the recall on the truck. I took it back to them right away after I got it from service and they told be just to drive it the computer had to adjust for the new sensor. I did, with no change. The horse power never came back, and to boot I lost 3-4 miles per gallon on my fuel economy. I was getting 17 MPG before and now I'm only getting around 13 MPG. I'm having trouble towing my trailers, that I didn't have a problem with before. This is rediculus. I just got the truck back from them again with the same complaint of lack of power, they replaced the whole turbo system, they said it was carboned up. The truck only has 35,000 miles on it. I can tell on my way home today already that it made do difference at all and it's going to be going back again until I get them to undo that recall or what ever it takes to get my power back. "Power" it's the whole reason I bought the truck and now it has none, because of the stupid recall. I didn't even want it, I just wanted my power steering resivor replaced as it was cracked and leaking power steering fliud on the frame and eating the rust coating off.
Very mad, T.J.
PS it kills your throttle response too. It seems like it takes a half hour now for the truck to register that your pushing down the accelerator, and then it thinks about it first before it actually starts to go anywhere.
I agree...DON'T do it. My truck ran great...now it is powerless. It is completely lifeless. Mine goes in the end of the month for the same sympton..."lack of power". And my MPG went into the tank. I am also seeing 13 mpg city, when I used to get 15+. I think the only way to get the thing to run right is to do a "tuner", and then they say you have voided the warranty.
does anyone know if dealerships do flash's and stuff like that with out telling you?? I've only taken my truck in once for an out of balance tire. im just kinda wondering if maybe they did something to my truck.. if they do something are they required to tell you.. or.. if you ask are thry required to let you know or even show you.. and last but not least.. is there anyway to find out over the net if or what has been done to my truck. thanks.

They put a sticker under the hood identifing the flash number , date etc. I had the 05e15 flash and new BP sensor done on my 05 and at first it seemed doggy but then after driving it awhile it came back to life. I feel Im getting better mileage also, I don't know?
As my sig indicates I have a 2004 F250 Crew Cab Power Stroke Short Box.
Wire harness recall: Never performed
EBP sensor recall: Never performed
Plastic intercooler tube to intake manifold replacement campaign: Never performed
My truck will not see a dealer for any of these repairs. Therefore, there will be no flashes of my PCM and FICM.
I will check the wiring harness soon when I perform the first cooling system service. This gives me the incentive to remove the coolant bottle / degass bottle so I can unbolt and remove the FICM (fuel injection control module) and scrutinize the wiring harness.
Skweeker, get the wiring done soon. Even though we had it done we was a long way from homewhen we did have a problem and had to limp back. A long trip back.
I had it done some time ago with no ill affects. My fiver is sitting at the campground for the summer and will not see the hwy. till Oct. I guess that will tell if it lost any pulling power.
I thought I read somewhere on this site that some techs weren't 'completing' the reflashes. I have looked but can't find that post now. Makes sense though. If the 'same service' is causing different results, one could assume that the service wasn't 'the same' after all...
I got the recall notice a long time back. Haven't had a reason to take my truck in for anything, and it hasn't acted up, so I'll just wait.
guys, go get the work done. with this recall, it takes the ebp sensor out of communication with some of the trucks depending on build dates and totally revamps the strategy for boosting, fueling everything. with the recalibration, a publication was released tell us 6.0 techs what to look for if the truck has no power concern after the work is performed. it could be that the tech did not perform the work correctly and the computer did not learn a certain strategy. if you have a no power concern, you have a problem plain and simple. if your dealer cant fix em find a new dealer. all my trucks i have performed this program on run awesome when i am done or i dont release the truck. i know what the trucks are supposed to run like and if they dont something is wrong somewhere.
Thanks for that info BowTieHatr (Love the name). That gives me the confidence to take my truck in for the reflash. I have the information from the Technicians on this site which enables me to speak with the Technician that will work on my truck and have an intelligent, educated conversation so I know it will be done correctly. Props to you!
I never received that recall. I had mine in even after it was released and they never installed the flash. Nothing on the paperwork and they don't put a label under the hood. The flash before that one was installed and no label but it was on the paperwork. I don't know what they do, kinda scary!!!!!!!
