Had the 05E15 flash done this am, along with the degas bottle sticker, and ebp sensor I believe. Have noticed no difference in performance. I filled up with fuel after leaving the dealership, so I will report if I see a fuel mileage change in the first tank and several subsequent tanks. All may be a moot point, as I never had any issues prior to the flash, mileage was averaging what has been reported here as the average. So I guess I was not trying to get something fixed by this flash, which is where I have seen the most problem here in the past. Truck never was right when it went in for the re-flash, and owner was expecting it to correct mechanical issues that existed prior to the re-flash.
They did this recall to my 2003 and I had nothing but problems they put a new turbo new high pressure oil pump and still over boost egr opens black smoke and the whole cycle thing starts over again mechanic though it could be EPS but new flash said that EPS isn't read anymore but reading is logically figured out using mass air and other sensors was supposed to stop inline chipping of motors and thus blowing up of motors while under warranty. End result changed EPS after Ford said " we said it doesn't read it anymore but we never said disconnect it did we" After this good power great mileage
Hope this helps I am still learning about diesels went from none to 4 in 6 months due to new business.
you did not get the 05e15 flash. you had the 06e17. plus if the ebp sensor was the problem, then it was probably shorted. the processor does not listen to the input from it, but if it is shorting out reference voltage, then it will cause issues no matter what.
Well suprise, suprise, suprise........First tank, 12mpg towing wash trailer(close to what I was averaging before flash) Second tank, 14.9mpg not towing the wash trailer, idle time was about normal. (in a 12 hour day I average 2-3 hours idle time, 15-30 min at a time while checking my compressors) I had been averaging 12.9-13.5 without the wash trailer.
I just had the recall done on my 05 and it has made a world of difference. Before, it got about 12 mpg, now 15 to 16. Turbo lag was almost unbearable getting through an intersection, now hardly any lag. Morning start up before was loud and shifting was abrupt for the first couple of miles, now it shifts smooth as soon as I put it in drive. I'm happy with it.___________________Bryan
thats good to hear ryan. well i guess you are one of the lucky ones or you just now how to add!!
Thanks for the advice about the flash BTH. The math is the advantage of hand calculating your mileage every tank. (Although I don't write it down anymore since I don't have to pay for fuel, I still hand calculate each and every tankful.)
Just replaced my 2000 f250 with a 05 f350 srw with 190k, 600 miles to get it home avg 16 mpg running 70-85 mph all highway very little traffic.
Runs so good I ALMOST don't want to change the oil.
Don't know what's done to it but it's quicker than my chiped 7.3 and supper quite at
highway speed. Idle is loud by engine is very smooth. Anyway to tell what flash of
if it has been programmed?

I should have mentioned that the 13 mpg was in full time 4x4..... as you can imagine, here in Anchorage there can be long stretches during the winter when you never get out of 4x4....
