not sure i just got this as is. i was under the truck and there are a bunch of fuel lines. it has dual tanks. the lines go to a block square piece. i am guessing it is the fuel pump switch. nothing looks like it is leaking or has leaked. i am going to replace them though. this thing used to have a gas engine in it i think. not sure because the title says diesel and the numbers match but the core support says 351w. it looks as if everything was done right if it was swapped. i am not sure.could this be a clogged fuel filter as well. i put a fuel additive in it today. i forgot the name but it is in a gray bottle with a black lid. said it cleaned injectors and raised octane up to 6 points. just hoping it will work on something. i have put the new hoses on the engine today but have not done the o rings because i could not find them and i am short on cash. i was thinking i could just match the o rings sizes and get some universal ones. i have not tried to recrank it since the first startup. i think i will tomorrow. also can water in the fuel make it hard to start but run good. i didn't think so. i have a canister with a drain under the brake booster. is this the water seperator. thanks.
well i jumped it off again maybe 1 1/2 - 2 hours after i put the lines on and started it the first time. it was still warm. i turned the glow plugs on for 5 seconds and tried to crank it without ether. it turned over for 5 seconds or less and cranked up. again it was still warm but should of had enough time to bleed off. i think we are getting somewhere. tomorrow we will see when it is cold.
today i cranked it over and it did not crank up on its own. when i got it to crank, i checked the pressure and i was getting 5psi. is that good.i killed it and pushed the schrader valve open and only a drop came out, no pressure at all. is that how it is supposed to be or is it supposed to hold pressure while not running. it does not go up when revved. i killed it and waited 5 minutes then tried to crank it and it did not crank up on it's own. but would if you start it directly after killing it. what is going on. i still need to get the injector o rings fixxed but this must be a huge hole for air to seep in and it is not leaking diesel. the water seperator is bypassed already. what gives. are there any ways to pressure test the fuel system.
Try this--- Loosen the line coming out of fuel filter. Crank the engine, fuel should spray out of the fitting. If not then change fuel filter. If you already changed fuel filter then probably a bad fuel pump.
