The trans control switch is the overdrive off button on the end of the shifter. If you don't press this button when self test is running you will get that code.
Neither of those codes is causing your problem. Your torque converter is not unlocking when it should.
Things to check:
Low trans fluid.
Loose internal filter.
Bad torque converter control solenoid.
Stuck valve in the valve body.
Bad torque converter.
Worn pump.
Thanks for your tips, oddly enough...my other truck's (in my avatar) brand new tranny has the similar problem with the T.C. locking when I put it in reverse so I know what it feels like. Plus I get a code indicating the T.C. has locked up. The prob with my work truck is a little more strange. For instance, when I approach a stop sign, I can slow down to walking speed and its fine, but the very second I have no forward movement it dies fast. If I keep the gas and the brake on it works like it should. Also, the speedometer is flickering high/lo (+- 30mph) at just about any speed.
This prob is driving me crazy, and the auto shops just want to scan the computer and not do any hands on troubleshooting.
Would the Torque Convert Solenoid and the Transmission Control Solenoid be the same thing on my tranny perhaps? That sounds like something to change just to see what happens .
