get your old egr valve back, or get a new one, unhook the one thats on the truck and plug up the new one and tie it to something, that way the valve in the truck will stay closed and the check engine light will be off
egrs in diesels are very very bad for efficiency
This does not work on most 05/06 models but an SCT custom tune will disable EGR altogether and permit normal operation of the CEL.
I too have been crunching numbers on an auxillary tank but in AZ the savings is only $.20-.30 savings from place to place. And these places are typically pretty far apart (60 miles), so not worthwhile burning the fuel to go get it.
I have found carpooling and limiting driving altogether is the only way to beat this, and it still hurts. I am also re-evaluating a ford focus purchase. With what I burn in diesel, I could park the truck at work and drive the commuter but the registration, insurance, and maintenance never offsets the cost. You can buy a lot of fuel for $12,000.
I am working on the cheaper filters, cheaper tires, less oil, etc that would go into the economics of the whole deal but it still does not cost out and justify the expense. I will do up a new spreadsheet and I bet $4.50-$5.00 would break even.
last time i had to fill my ocean's tank it cost $2,632.00 for 800 gals ."yes we did cut it very close that trip out for 3 days " thats a reason many charter boats are up for sale.
i surly pitty the world the way abdul is sticking it to us. a young kid fliping bugers at md's to pay for school . a old timer on a fixed income. thoughts come down to what do i need the most. a roof, heat. and food or gas or diesel to go for a ride .
i can't aford much at all anymore and now know how it sometimes feels to be on a fixed in come. try living on $1,509.00 a month you learn fast.
great thread her guys .thanks for some good clean hours to kill
Greer. $540 for the tank. $276 for the pump. $10 for hardware to bolt down the tank. Will come in handy if we make our trip down to California next summer.

Thanks Mike!! With my truck tank and the auxillary tank, I would only need to refill once the wholetrip. That would be real nice. Of course I'm figuring an average of 15mpg for a 4200 mile trip.
You that are ONLY shelling out $2.80 a gallon make me cry. Like forest hill CA.
come up to Quincy so we can KILL you with $3.40 a gallon for #2 LOL I used to live
