I can kinda guess why- if you don't fuel up in Baker City, and you're running low, it's a heckuva long walk to the next town. what- a hundred miles?

It seems that everything west of the continental divide is much higher than the east side.

Kailua, Oahu, Hawaii $3.45 per gallon. I still get better MPG than the Premium guzzlers do.

I remember growing up in GA and Diesel being 60 cents and premium being 80 cents.

Pretty soon we are going to have to calculate how much it costs per mile instead of miles per gallon. Our diesel prices match yours right now with the most expensive premium unleaded fuel less than $3.00 per gallon.
I was all set to buy my wife a Jetta TDI in a few months when we have the money saved up for it, but now am having second thoughts and considering a gas engine instead. Plus I can spend $5000.00 less on the purchase price in the first place by getting a gasser.
I love diesel engines, but there is a limit.
