Hey Dan, if you are serious about the VW diesel I would go ahead. I just read in the latest Diesel Power Mag that they were not going to sell the diesels in the us for the '07 model year and then would bring back a newer design diesel. If you are like me then you dont rush out and buy anything with a new engine design.
Friend of mine has a diesel bug that gets like 53 MPG on the highway and another person that I talked to get 50+ on a Jetta......both straight drives.
Powerkleen I've owned plenty of the old VW IDI diesels and love them. I even put turbo on my old Dasher and really loved that one.
It's getting hard to justify the $5000.00 price difference anymore unless a the fuel prices get over $10.00 per gallon. And then at that point I'll start taking the bus!!!!
Saw it today for 2.35/gal in Houston at FM 1960 and Kuykendahl. I couldn't believe my eyes. All fuel was .20 cheaper a gallon in Houston compared to Willis.

I'm going to put water in my gas and fuel tank and see what happens [/QUOTE]
be careful. if that works the'll find a way to start charging us unreal prices just for water, then to top it off.. they start spreading dirty rummers that rainfall doesnt have enough octain in it, and to high of sulfer count so we "shouldnt" use it
any ill add more to this part later but ive been on vacation for about 3 weeks and want to let you all know that i saw Desiel in the Unita Bason "utah" for 3.72. OUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!! the worst part is they refine gas and all that locally...
