First time I drove it about 75 miles highway + 100 miles city + warming it up 10min before driving (w/hubs locked, opps, didn't know... and it was winter) = 10.4mpg
Second time: 40 miles highway + 150 miles city + continuing the warm ups before driving = 9.75mpg
Third time: 60 miles highway + 130miles city + less warmups (5min or so) = 9.87mpg
This last fillup with no warmups (1min or so, then baby it till warm); 60miles highway, 120 city, no snow on the ground = 8.76mpg
WTF gives? I'm driving it a bit harder when warm now, but not beating on it at all. It still seems like the power isnt' there that it should have, or I think it should have.
I did the oil, filter, air filter (stock), fuel filter... and I just installed the kwik filter about 40miles ago on this tank.
My mechanic guy said to check the wastegate actuator and make sure im not leaking... or check for boost leaks.
Don't know on the actuator other than disconnecting it and turning the rod out a few turns and connecting it back up, that will put more spring pressure on the gate. But I agree, with lack of power and low mpg, I would think you are not getting the boost from the turbo. Do you get lots of black smoke? Could be some worn injecters dumping lots of fuel, but just guessing here. I think the average mpg most agree with real world wise is between 14 and 16 city/highway and 16-18 highway at moderate (i.e 65-70) speeds.
126k on the truck. Runs pretty smooth I think.. but under idle you do get an occational rough like skip of a beat.. but some of the gaser trucks at work do that too.. Plus it does have 126k on it.
I'm only slightly better at 10.9 right now. When I bought the truck it would do 13. I'm hoping my new set of injectors will bring it back due to a nice fresh spray pattern.
Still waiting for them to arrive from Bean's....................
I don't really smell any diesel leaks.. Or maybe I'm used to it? I know what a leak smelled like. I had some issues when I installed the fuel filter gasket wrong.. that has long been fixed.
Did u check for boost leaks. Usually there's oil around boots if there's a leak.
How about exhaust leaks at the Y pipe to the turbo? Do u use a fuel additive?
