I have an MBRP turbo back kit. I used kit #S6212409 with a muffler delete pipe. I love the sound and the truck runs great. The whistle isn't like the '03s but it's loud enought to hear at a distance.
Remember you need to do mods, you need to think in terms of working them together not just one piece making all the power.

Oh yeah, I have a plan in my head that should allow for reliable power.
TS 5x w/module
MBRP exhaust
AFE intake
Maybe a FASS fuel system
and of course gauges
I just put a custom exhaust system on my truck. I have no cat or muffler on it. I had a straight pipe ran from the down pipe straight back then had a t installed then two straight pipes right out of the back.
I have 4" straightpipe on my '03 rig with a Hypertech Hyperpac on Stage 3. I don't get that crackling you're talking about. ?? All you hear is turbo whistle till about 2k rpm, then after that, it sounds like a Big Block Ford!! The way, something with an engine that big, should sound!!! Nothing like it!!!!

That is what I expected. I am straight piped(OEM Exhaust) just stock aside from that and I am no where near a crackle. Like to refer to the Flowmaster 40 series(on a V-8 of course) about the best I can describe it.
I simply did a muffler delete and all stock. Left cat in place and I think it sounds great. Almost stock until about 2500 Revs, then you know you've got a big block V8. Running next to a Jersey baricade lets you really hear it! I just don't need any more power than what it already has stock, so I don't get myself in trouble with Ford either.
i was told that if you delete the muffler you wont be able to pass inspection. Because i went to a muffler shop and they said they couldnt do it bc of that reason.
In my area because of it being diesel we don't hve emission testing so I will be alright with inspection I had already checked on that before I had the cat and muffler removed.

Where do you live that they emmission test a HD Diesel? I am in the Atlanta area and they SMOG test everything but Diesels. So yep, let them both "fall off" . But I have heard that some people have posted the same numbers with and W/O the muffler. The muffler has no emissions purpose whatsoever...That I know of.
