Question Exhaust Systems

I was wondering what exhaust yall have and which ones you prefer¿? Which ones do you think sound the best on a 302?? Do you get a good amount of power with glasspacks¿?

I am running a dual sytem with 24" cherry bombs on my 390. I bought them mainly because the they were about $15 each at Autozone. Iffin I had a 302 and it was a 2x4, I would look at a nice dual exhuast with a turbo mufflers with turn downs (NO CHROME TIPS) before the wheels as the easiest and nicest set up.

With the newest turbo mufflers, I do not think glass packs offer any performance advantage except for price.

ok, why no chrome tips, and do you think the glasspacks or the flomasters sound better?¿ I like the sound of glasspacks, and i have some kind of off brand flomaster on there now.

If this 351W equipped 1970 truck I bought doesn't already have them I'll go with glasspacks. $12 apiece plus $40 to weld at the local exhaust shop. If I do it that way I can afford the extra $50 to add the long chrome tips. I don't need a stinking $300 bill for Flowmasters, I just want it loud.

Oooh...just checked and you can still buy 30" long glasspacks...I got room for that, no cats on a '70...nice low sound...*shiver*...yum...

> why no chrome tips

garish

I like glass packs because they sound better on my wallet and because they fit up into the frame so the lowest point on my truck is the drive shaft and skid plates. Oval mufflers do not and on my truck an oval muffler would hit the driveshaft.

Glass packs are louder and most turbo mufflers do sound nicer/quieter. If I had a stereo or wanted to talk to someone while driving on the highway, I might opt for a muffler other then a glass pack.

A 302 in an older truck is not exactly a racer, so I would go with a subtle and burble type of dual exhaust and paint the exhaust flat black including the turn down.

well the 302 in my truck came out of a 69 stang or some year around there. I just like the sound of pure engine. But thats illegal so ill have to settle for glasspacks.
