At least check the fluid level. Check your belt condition and changing your fluid is always a good idea. Remember ATF not power steering fluid.

Yeah, but I can tell you faster than I can find it. Unhook your return line from the brake booster and attach a clear hose long enough to run to a gallon jug. Open your pump reservoir cap and crank engine. Using a LONG neck funnel, add new fluid to reservoir as you have someone slowly turn the wheel and work the brakes. You will see the old fluid coming out of the clear tube. When the fluid turns a pretty red (new fluid) your done. It will that right at 3 qts, but have the forth handy just in case. As long as you don't run the reservoir empty, air shouldn't be a problem.
Yes, syn. works very well.

Mine is doing this too. I changed to synthetic ATF over the summer and it still does it. Mine usually only does it when turned right though.

You can pull the low pressure hose off the pump and have someone start and stop the engine as you add fluid to the resivoir. try to not get an air bubbles in there but they can be purged.

I guess you could also pull the serp. belt and use a drill an short belt to turn the pump much slower an do it by yourself.

Dooh, too late!

I have done it the way I posted and it works great and easy to do. You need the long neck funnel to keep the fan from blowing fluid everywhere.

Isn't another trick to get air out to turn the wheels all the way one way and leave it overnight, then the turn them the opposite way and leave it the next night? I thought I read that someplace... BTW, mine was whiny and after putting in the syn ATF, it got nice & quiet. I can still hear it, but just a little. My Ranger was a whiny b!tch, and I never swapped it. It ran that way for 92k before I traded it for my '250.

How do you crank it without it running? Can you hit WOT and have it go into clear flood mode?

Crank the engine = engine running. Not sure what you are asking on the other question.
