L&L Products in Texas make good headers for your 385 series into a 65-79 FoMoCo "F".

It should, unless someone changed it. Check axle code.

It is easiest to just look at the axle, if there is NOT a removeable cover, it is a 9". The vast majority have the 9" axle.

Those are easy to find for the 9", but you will need to know if you have 28 or 31 spline rear axles...and no you can't just switch the axles, they are a different diameter at the wheel bearing location. I would bet you have the 28 spline if it is original.

You can get any gear ratio you could possibly want for the 9", it uses the same carrier no matter what ratio it is. Lots of choices for a limited slip also, Detroit Locker, Eaton, Auburn, Loc-Rite. PowerTrax, just take your pick!!

Chad, There was never a 429 installed in a F series pickup, so there is no app for it. The reference that Pete made was for a 460 (aka 385 series) (late 70s). He runs one in his truck.

maybe this will help a little

Smile 460/429

Im pretty sure that 460/429 are the same motor on the outside its just the bore and stoke, the block size is the same don't quote me on that but that is what I have beeen told.intake manifolds geardrives and numerous other parts are interchangable

The only difference with the 429 and early 460s is the crank and the pistons. The bore is the same. Head configuration is the same.
