Hi i put a 460/c6 in my 66 swb 2 yrs ago and used the LMC engine mount kit, was wonderin if anyone has used these mounts with headers and what brand and style worked the best thanks
Trav54: The front end dimensions of '65 - '79 2WD trucks are the same. My '66 2WD has a 460 installed using the factory 3-piece engine perches and motor mounts from a '78 F-250. They bolted right up, as the frame dimensions and positioning of the frame holes are identical throughout those years.
If you had used the factory motor mounts, you would be able to use stock or factory headers.
If you can compare the measurements of your LMC mounts and your 460's geometry and positioning with a stock 460 setup, you should be able to tell if stock headers will fit. I rather think they will, and believe the most likely issue will be if the LMC mounts put the engine too low and close to the frame.
I agree with BanjoPicker. I have the stock motor mounts/towers from a later truck, and I think your kit puts the motor in a diff place. I've checked, and it appears the later, up to 79 460 headers would fit with factory mounts, but couldn't say for sure about yours. Where are you? Maybe if there is someone in your area, you could measure theirs and yours. Does LMC offer any info about factory engine placement?
