The dealer is probably going to connect it to a fluid change machine to change all of the fluid. The whole trans takes about 17 quarts, plus there is an external filter that needs changing. The internal filter doesn't need changing.
The dealer's service costs more, but they do it right. If you only drop the pan, change the internal filter, and replace what was in the pan you wasted your time and money.

You'd be surprised to find out what different dealers consider to be a fluid change. Here is how you flush it on your own....the actual capacity is 17.5 quarts
I had the dealer flush mine and they charged me $137.00. I did not change
any filters. I will do that the next flush.
That's pretty amazing when you consider that SP is about $5.00 per quart. You sure they flushed it? Like I said you'all need to really ask them point blank on what their procedure and definition of "flush" is.
So far in this post we have seen....
1. Dealer considers fluid change as dropping the pan and changing both filters
2. Dealer supposeldy "flushed" the tranny but did not change any filters.

I paid $4.98 a quart for Mercon SP. Changed the 7.5 quarts in the pan, ran a few days and replaced another 7.5 quarts, along with the inline filter. Other dealers in town were a little over $5.00. On a side note, the transfer case fluid was very dark, more brown than red. Changed it as well. Also note, the owners manual calls for Mercon SP for the Torq Shift transmission but Mercon for the Transfer Case.
