I just orderd the filter #46637 from fleetfilter.com. It was $19.xx + s/h. Napa's filter is over $46.00. It's tempting to order 10 filters at that price. Easy looking mod and with the new exhaust coming, I'll make a day of it.
I paid 46.00 for my filter from NAPA got it at cost since I work at a honda dealer I get parts brought here at price it was regularly 86.00 if I went to NAPA and got it. I dont even have to make a trip to the store. What a diffrence it made I also see my threat started a diffrent topic as well

Good grief!! It sounds like your NAPA is seriously sticking it to some people. Mine was $40 from NAPA, as a regular customer.
As much as we try to keep on track, these threads seem to take several turns in their journey to the archives.
When it starts as a Kwik Filter question and ends up as a recipe for chicken soup, then we're in trouble.
But I digress...
If fleetfilter is selling the wik for $20 and napa sells them for $46 online, what is the difference between the filters? The napa site called it a "gold" / industrial. Then below they had it as just gold. Both for $45+ each. fleet had the 46637 (on the home page) for $19.00.
Not to highjack the thread, I'm just wondering from those of you that know a lot more about all this than I do.

Not a thing. They are exactly the same filter. The one from Fleet Filter comes in the same NAPA box as you get from NAPA, and they even have the same sticker on the filter. I've bought one from both places.
Is there any reason to build a heat shield between the motor and the filter?
The advantage to that is that there is only cold outside air for the filter then.
With that said, there was some studies done a while back on the temperature differences for the 6637 filter and it was basically not much difference once you are underway.
IMO it's an optional job.
my truck came with the K&N filter. I've been reading posts about the 6637 mod (as well as others). I've seen one or two modifications for getting air to the filter. These were mods to the backside of the grill, like cutting away material to get almost a direct airflow to the filter. Do most people get air from whatever is in the engine compartment, or do they get it through the fender like mine?
Bought mine with a big hole right out through the fender well.
Most people have the front of the radiator crawl cut out, so yours is different. Also get the K&N off the truck fast, those filters have been known to dust the turbo, plus they don't flow as much air as the 6637.
