Learpilot, I was going to send you a picture of how I did mine, but you don't receive emails, and I don't know how to post it to the thread. I am using a C---y van column with 1/4" rod to extension off of factory AOD arm Joe
Mr. Ferguson is correct. It's an Australian thing. On another message board I belong to we're talking about Minis (very small British cars) and you run into a few Aussies there. I also made a trip on a merchant container ship as a cadet a looooong time ago and spent time in Sydney and couple of other ports. Very nice people and great beer.
Still have to go out and remeasure things. I'm planning on doing it this weekend.
I have a Lokar column shift kit for a GM (sorry, I had to say that) tranny. Talking with their tech guys I found that they do not plan to offer a kit specifically for the AOD, but that "some guy" bought this kit and made it work.
I took a look at it and measured some things. To fit the kit I've removed the pivot pin and plastic bushing from the stock AOD shift lever. I measured it all to make a new bushing/adapter that will allow the Lokar cable attach thing to be bolted into the hole of the stock AOD lever. Then I lost the measurements. So, I could go out into the garage and measure it all again and get back with a quicky sketch if anyone's interested. It would be a machined flat head sort of pin with a through hole and a large washer. The Lokar cable attach thing would bolt through the bushing and hold it all together.
And Bob's yer uncle, we have a shifter.
Do I understand it correctly that you are shifting a 700R4 with a kit made by Lokar for a T350? What is your column out of? Is the radius that you swing at the bottom of the column adjustable or fixed? Approximate radius is ??
No, I'm going to shift an AOD with a Lokar GM column shift kit attached to a Flaming River column. Sorry, I should have made what I have clear when I first posted to eliminate any confusion.
Learpilot, it still would not allow me to send email. If you like, go to my profile and send private message with your email and I will send picture. You could use my first name followed by halfofhalf.com and send it direct. Joe
welp i broke done and called ididit and they told me that their cable based column shift will work. from my research and their pics they are using a kit like b&m uses for their cable shifters(BMM-40496) with a longer cable adapted to the ididit shifter http://www.ididit.com/cable_16.jpg
check summitracing for the pic of the b&m linkage
