Well my original plan was to build a 604ci engine using the IDT block. The blocks aren't too pricey really, the rotating assembly was even reasonable (I use that term loosely) but what got me was the heads. I can send my TFS heads to Scott and for a decent price he'll make them flow enough to run a 545-557 stroker. But that's about their limit and beyond that I'd need something with a much better exhaust and probably a much better intake at the 600 cube level. So basically what it came down to is this: With the heads I already have I can build a "streetable" 800+hp engine for less than $5,000. To go to a 600+cube engine I'd have been at over $15,000. I just couldn't justify that right now. 800 horse should keep me content for a year or so and if I get bored with it I already have the nitrous.
I protest! I used to have the biggest motor in the forum and now its starting to shape up to be a mild daily driver mill in comparison
Yeah well I am waiting for Ivan to finish his, and then get your REAL engine built so I have to build my new one. I mean I wanna have to use a small block crank as a cam so come on get em done will ya
And I also want to try and match skipped's HP level except naturally aspirated, on gas without nitrous.
well, yall should feel better about it....im still at a measly 473 ci... i just hate to tear apart a good running motor on a college budget...as much as i would love the 557 stroker
Yeah i thought i was going to have quite the motor with a 463hp 400, but i guess i'll have to tuck tail and run , but then again the price tag will be about what ivan spent on them tfs heads alone
Nothin'. That's why you can send your $10,000 donation to:
I got in a wreck last month and have to get a new car. That's setting me back a fair amount even with the insurance because my car was a POS and I'm not getting much for it. So it's budget time for me. Plus I'll need to build a new tranny and that'll cost me another $500-$700 in parts.
I'm really excited to see what 'real' engine can do in my truck. The first time I rode along with Pro I about crapped my pants, 600+ horse will really throw down, even in a truck that big, and move way faster than I expected. I'm thinking 800 horse will be interesting. If things work out I'm gonna fly back to visit Rob this summer and have a ride in Monsterbaby to see what 900 horse will do in a truck that weighs 3,000 pounds less than mine.
This is really starting to be an interesting build up. I am still waiting for someone to buy this long block and run it...: http://www.dssracing.com/superpro600.html
Still, even kubota's motor makes my dreams of a 427W seem pretty lame.

mine is nothing to write home to mom about, its just barely adequate in my opinion
