I put in a Tru-Cool (#40K model) and transmission temps dropped signifigantly...easy install too . While I was at it, I installed an external transmission filter with a valve to drain transmission and replace fluid easily. The easier it is to do, the more likely I am to do it!

One of the better cooler on the market that alot of PSD people use is the "Tru Cool LPD" cooler.. i have one and it does the job.. i am using the 28,000 rated unit..if you pull or haul anything heavy, i would suggest this one.. along with a trans temp gauge and keep the temps under 220 degress. see the following website for more info.. http://www.tsscoolers.com/
If you don't want to spend a lot of money you can use other Ford tranny coolers. You can use the V10 one which is bigger than the 7.3's or the 6.0 one which is bigger than all three.

i second this information, with one revision... i would say try to keep your tranny temps to 200 degrees or less... i'm sure your tranny would survive running at 220, but if you are running that high, you should have put a bigger cooler on...
