Tranny Cooler

Team, Can you have too big of a tranny cooler?

Yes you can over cool any device that relies on fluid to lube and cool it. By doing so you increase wear. This is why new units rely on thermostats on the cooler to open and close them. But being in SC I don't think you will really have an issue at all. How big of a unit are you looking at? The 35,000 GCWR plate style units work great and fit very well in these trucks.

Well for starters thanks for the input, my buddy just lost his tranny, one of the main culprits was, the tranny was clogged and gummed up, now his truck was clicking 260+k miles so a tranny was on the list to do, so I was wondering if I stepped my up a little bigger than stock I could add some years to mine, I am at 207k miles, What brand name of cooler are you talking about,

Get a tranny cooler out of a 6.0L they work great and its affordable.

I have a Tru-Cool unit and it works great. Never see temps above 180, summer, pulling doesn't matter.

6.0L trans cooler is the only way to go
