When looking at the VIN tag on my door the color code states - M, which I can't find anywhere to decipher this. My truck is no where near stock in color and I have reasons to believe it wasn't when I bought it in '92. My other question concerns the decoder in the tech articles.... it asks for front and rear axle code. On my tag it states 16J, the rivet covers a portion of the tag so i can't tell if this is all there is or which part of this is the front and which is the rear. If I did it right, I put the 16 as the code for the rear and the j for the front. The axle ratio is correct for the rear, but for the front it comes up with P.S. The only thing that comes to mind is power steering, but what does this have to do with the front axle?
Actually the "M" i'm refering to is my vehicle color code.
my VIN # is F14HRY61163 with a Body code of PA4, color code of M, a trans code of A, a wheel base of 117, a GVWR of 06050lbs, and an axle code of 16J (at least from what i can tell).... on my VIN tag all I can read is "axle" because my rivet covers the rest. my Question was is this all there is to my axle code? is there more to it? if this is all there is which part of the 16J relates the rear axle and which relates the front axle?
