Searched this forum and reviewed the available charts recommended but can't find a ratio for this rear axle code. Door data tag lists the Axle as 11J. 1979 F150 2WD 117" wheel base. The previous owner said it used to have a utility box so it may have been a fleet truck or unusual ratio. Now it has no box. Anyway, I would appreciate any help.
I don't see 11 as an axle code option. 14 maybe? That would be 3.00 gear.
J means it came with power steering. If it came as a chassis cab though, it may not be listed in the normal production axle code lists.
got a pic? Have you checked to see if there is a tag on the rear end with numbers on it?

Tracking down that code can be fun. The body code for my truck dosn't exist anywhere. the easiest way not the most accuarte is jack up the rear axle, mark a line on your tire and your drive shaft, rotate your tire one full revolution and count the number of revolutions of the drive shaft. if you have say 3.07's. your drive shaft will turn 3.07 times for each full rotation of the tire.
