I have a 1970 F-250 and when I bought the truck it didn't have any reservoir for the washer fluid.
I can't hear any pump noise when I push in on the wiper switch
I was looking in the engine compartment and noticed a pair of wires that were set near the washer hose and was wondering if the tank has a pump attached to it or is my existing pump bad or may have a faulty circuit going to it.
Just wondering what it may take to get the washer system working again.
Thanks in advance for all replies.
Ken
If you have the plastic molded tank then there will be a cylindrical hold in the bottom that holds the pump. The pump is cylindrical, about as round as a quarter, and about 3 inches long. It has a place on the back that the harness plugs into. I think it is two wires that mat in a triangular shaped plug. You can get a new pump from Autozone for about $15.
The tanks and pumps are available from the suppliers for our trucks. You just have to check out the main ones or find one from a parts truck. The 67s use a washer bag with a separate pump. You should be able to use the reservoir with the attached pump. Good luck.
Guys, Good ideas all, I would caution you to be careful while in the yards poking around. Both the bags and plastic boxes can be brittle and leak. I would look for as late of model as you can find. If you aren't politically correct you might sub something much newer in. All we need is a simple two wire 12V pump. You can change ends on the existing wires if needed.
For less than 75 dollars, you can get the reservoir, pump and electrical connector from BOTP (I just looked at them) or try DennisCarpenter or any of the others that I can't think of right now.
