No I don't have any issues with the government (not meant for FTE anyway).
What is the value (min-max) of an all original Ford army rig?
it's a '70 F-100, 2x4, SWB, 300-6, auto (I think C4), army drab green with red showing throgh in some places (which lead me to beileve it ain't what its said to be.
Body is rough, grill is thrashed on r.side, and drivers 1/4 window is silliconed all the way around.
Interior is okay, faded and torn from 35 years of use but all there. they're asking 1k obo. and just thought I'd ask you folks (I'd buy it if I could get away with it).
i kinda doubt its a real army truck. because the army always ordered them in 4x4 with manual everything and most were at least 3/4 ton trucks very seldom was a 4x2 1/2 ton truck with a auto tranny ever bought if ever
Did the government put the "special" light switches in their pickups? The one with the two levers and blackout settings? I've seen them in all the jeeps and heavy trucks. I've heard that switch was developed around WWII and is still used.
Check the Warranty Plate codes. Up to at least '67, there was a special DSO code for vehicles delivered to government customers, so I am confident that yours will have it also if it indeed was an Army or Air Force vehicle.
I do not have the DSO codes for later than '67, though. Perhaps somone else will.
mid and late 80's they the army in Ft Bragg,Nc had had several 2x4's but they were mostly diesel. There was a few reg gas to though. They used them for errand running and such. I drove them on occasion when stationed there. Never saw red showing through. And yes they had the swithches on them.
