Well the superduty is just a better built overall truck from the chassis to the interiors to the sheetmetal yes its true. Look at a new Dodge an look close. Then look at a 2005 or 2006 SD an youll definitly se what Im talking about. Put em both side by side an compare it wont be close. The SD is better. The proof is in the pudding.
The SD is better except for that cheesy swing arm front suspension. They could have at least made it a 4 link.
I came close to buying a dodge last year. Test drove to my satisfaction but while cheaper than the Fords in my opinion it wasn't as good a package. My old F350 crew had been a great truck and after all the test driving was done, for nearly $40,000 I decided to rebuild her. The sheet metal is thick, weldable, the frame is strong, the drive trains are as tough as any on the market now, a well tuned 7.3 does ok and I'd wager the package will outlive many of the new designs. The crew cab easily allows me to climb in back and sleep while my wife logs the early morning hours. Mega cab? I'll bet that old Ford crew measures up larger than the "mega". Milage? she'll get nearly 17 if I keep the 4:10 gears rolling under 65. I haven't heard of any new truck with a similar rearend that will do much better. The rebuilt engine and truck upgrades cost over $32,000 less than a new truck. I love my old Ford and even though I may be a little slower on the stretch I am proud to drive her down the highway hauling my camper and pulling a 4 horse trailer. I don't know about the new models and time will be the only test but those old 3/4 & 1 ton Fords are one heck of a tough truck.
I do believe that the new Megacab is larger than the new or old Ford crew cabs. You have to sit in it to appreciate the amount of rear seat room.
I think he (92f150I6) was referring to 4x2's. (swing arm suspension...)
I was trying to think of what to call the current 4X4 suspension. AM I wrong in thinking that the 05 up sd has 2 links plus the track bar on the front axle? I really don't like seeing that single big control arm on each side. Just a matter of personal preference, as I don't like the 05 up design. I bought my SD because I could get a leaf spring solid axle front end. That was my #1 reason for wanting an SD.
The superduty has a coil over solid axle suspension. 1 piece. If you remeber the 79 150s they had the same setup 4x4 that is. The 05 desighn makes for a very short turning radius compared to the old leaf sprung solid axle. The ride is much better. I see way more pluses then minuses with this setup. That front axle is reallty beefed compared to the old. Have you looked at it closly?

I really havent had any experience with the coil sprung sd's. I will say that I have never been in a HD 250 level truck that rode soft, be it a dodge coil, ford leaf or GM torsion bar setup. They all ride stiff.
WHhat would make a coil spring ride nicer? It still has to be stiff enough to support yhe loads placed on it. (this is a serious question not trying to belittle you) What exactluy makes the 05- up trucks ride nicer?
Well you just have to ride one to no. I dont have one but ive ridden in one an yes they ride nicer then the leaf sprung which I have. Just ride in both thats the best I can tell you. Experience it your self.
My brother wants to buy one of these Dodge Mega Cab's. To me it's a waste of space to have all that. Nothing like having a regular cab, fits me and my girl and no one else
Tell him to buy a super duty CC an for get the Dodge megacab. Its a Dodge not a Ford nuff said. Does he want a well built truck or a slapped together fall apart truck. I try to discouirage anybody from driving a Dodge or buying one. Sorry I just cant stand anything that says Dodge on it.
The ride difference between coil and leafs is night and day. Also a coil has a tighter turning radius. Leafs are much cheaper and more reliable in the long run. Leafs are horse and buggy era technology.
Now if I was gonna plow with the truck. Leafs are a much better idea.
