This new Megacab is fugly. Seriously, one of the ugliest trucks I have seen. Since Dodge turned that '94-'02 truck that looked faily decent, into this abombination, I have been totally turned off of dodge. Was never turned on about them in the first place. the frontend is way too sloaped, and that grille and headlight set-up is disgusting. The cab of the truck is just as bad....dodge has never had a good looking cab.
Dodge fits in the part of the truck market that goes more toward the extreme in styling, which is why the Ram is a good seller. It's almost a risky design. But like many have said before, the Dodge Ram is a truck people are either going to love or hate.
150ford- ford has better sheet metal and build quality?? i remember a post on here recently that an owner of an 04 f250 had is bed cave in an inch, yes an inch from hauling his 700lb harley roadking around. die hard ford owners will never admit that another company can build a diesel truck just as good or even better than a ford. every manufacturer has their short comings-yes, even ford!
Your right Nickfordman Dodge in the looks department has taken a turn for the worse. Megacab or not its a Dodge nuff said. How come there are so many Dodge guys on here. Shouldnt you be over on a Dodge forum. Hey like I said this is FTE anmost Ford guys will say Ford is better then any truck on the road. Dodge is not worth talking about.
150ford. that is what i thought. badmouth dodge about crappy sheet metal and how their components are not as beefy as fords-but state no facts to back up your claims-then brush off/change the subject when called out onto the floor. i expect ford owners on their forums to be partial to fords. but just because it is a ford does not mean it is a better vehicle. i know you are too good to check out the dodge forums because you are a ford owner. but there is alot less posts on the dodge sites with owners with engine problems and complaints than their is on this ford site-but does that make me think that ford trucks suck and are inferior-no because every manufacturer has their problems and every brand of truck has their pros and cons. i think it is pretty safe to say, that the build quality of the "big 3" today are pretty evenly matched-they have to be. because toyota and honda are breathing down their necks!
Don't mind 150Ford. He may seem like he talks out of his posterior on every occasion in which he posts...lol. But he is loyal to the blue oval. He's a good natured guy with a big heart IMO. Like it or not, there's something about his extreme loyalty which is to be admired , there's no denying that - even if it becomes annoying to some people at some times.
You'll come across all sorts of Ford guys on this board. Some like myself try to remain as unbiased as possible. I like Dodge, I like the Hemi, and I like Cummins -but that's me, and I certainly consider myself a Ford guy above all else.
Some here can't even stand to say the word Dodge, and that's fine. What we have in common here is an interest in, and (hopefully) a love for, Ford pickup trucks. There are some Ford guys here who love imports - I can't stand them. Truth be told I'm very impressed with my brother's Titan - but I'd still never buy one. Whatever floats your boat I guess, and if any guy I disagree with here, at least shares my love for Ford trucks - then we are still "brothers in the blue oval" so to speak. Go to any other forum, be it Dodge, Ford, or GM, and you will not find the comraderie, or even the tolerance of other brands that you will find from the majority of people here.
FTE is #1. 150Ford....your OK in my book......Dodge rulez BTW
BTW Dodgney, Toyota has'int got a prayer of overtaking the truck market from anyone - much less Honda. Truth be told, I'm much more impressed with my brother's butt ugly Titan than with anything I've seen come from Toyota in the way of pickup trucks. And again, Nissan has'int got a prayer of ever getting me into a Titan - so what's that say for Toyota ? Or God forbid, a Honda?
I came close to buying a dodge last year. Test drove to my satisfaction but while cheaper than the Fords in my opinion it wasn't as good a package. My old F350 crew had been a great truck and after all the test driving was done, for nearly $40,000 I decided to rebuild her. The sheet metal is thick, weldable, the frame is strong, the drive trains are as tough as any on the market now, a well tuned 7.3 does ok and I'd wager the package will outlive many of the new designs. The crew cab easily allows me to climb in back and sleep while my wife logs the early morning hours. Mega cab? I'll bet that old Ford crew measures up larger than the "mega". Milage? she'll get nearly 17 if I keep the 4:10 gears rolling under 65. I haven't heard of any new truck with a similar rearend that will do much better. The rebuilt engine and truck upgrades cost over $32,000 less than a new truck. I love my old Ford and even though I may be a little slower on the stretch I am proud to drive her down the highway hauling my camper and pulling a 4 horse trailer. I don't know about the new models and time will be the only test but those old 3/4 & 1 ton Fords are one heck of a tough truck.
Well, the extreme loyalty has to come from somewhere. For some, it's what their parents have always owned and driven, and thats all they know. For others, it comes from experience. I've never come across anyone pro-Ford on this board that was just talking out of their ***. Anybody who is not willing to buy a dodge has a reason.
I love my '96 7.3L. Tough, dependable, plenty of power, and good looking. I have never come across an '04, or '05 F-150 with the problems mentioned either. The F-250 mentioned (if the story is true) had weight concentrated on one spot. We all know that the sheet metal is getting thinner, so that doesn't really surprise me too much if it's true. Throw a rubber mat on it, problem solved. While we're at it, I would like to say, that I've never come across a SD truck that had this problem, and I know a guy that loaded 4,000lbs of gravel into his long box crew.
Nobody is ever going to be convinced dodge is on the level with Ford just because you guys say so. Go test drive both, then come back and try and explain to me why you would by the dodge over the Ford.
For me it was equal, I test drove both. But I like the Cummins better than what the Ford offers. Please don't turn this into a cummins vs psd thread. I am sure the psd does fine, but my preference was for the Cummins. Period.
I have no wish to turn this into a diesel war. So I'll leave it at that. I would like everyone, or anyone that has test driven both, to describe what they liked about each, and why.
my intentions are not to start a diesel war either. but, if you are going to make claims, just back them up with facts. i am glad to see most members here use their brains and common sense before talking. the question was asked earlier why i "lurk" on this site, as opposed to staying on my dodge forums. i like diesel trucks! i obviously prefer dodge-but i like ford and chevy too- in their own way. i like to see what is going on with other owners, etc. i like to stay up to date on new info and such. at the end of the day, it makes me a better consumer when i am out looking for a new ride!!
