ya i understand 73 fastbacks point and obviously a good one, but it can be done and like everything, moderation is the key, you can't go to the extremes on anything and expect it to last. but i was saying that it will effect ride quality and it COULD be a reason if he did have a plow on it that it would ride "rougher" with the plow off if he didn't adjust it down. it was a thought on my part, not a recomendation that you should do it. I just know people that can and do get by with it and it hasn't had any bad effect that I have seen.
just my .02 on the subject.
no i have never messed with it.....btw the company would say not to mess with the torsion bars because that is a sell for them.
I guess Ill go down to the dealer and see if they look as bad in real life as they do on that picture. Im not a dually man myself. I like the early 80s chevy duallies looks but most after that have been ugly to me. Ford did a decent job on the superduty. Also cab and chassis duallies are narrower. Those are cool. If you can fit a bed on that it would rock but I imagine it would only be 2 or 3 feet between wheelwells.
I have seen them running around my town. Trust me, they are just as bad in real life. Even if you're a fan of the new dodge looks from '02 up, you will not like this new re-design. It's even worse, and the Megacab looks ridiculous, however practical it may be.

That was my truck!!!
I was amazed, almost nobody has a F350 Cab Chassis over in the states - in my opinion it was far more practical than the wide frame.
Larger fuel capacity, more manouverability etc. etc.
Wow long thread. I've cranked up my torsion bars on my 02 Ram and got 2" of height out of it. A good friend did the same thing on his Duramax 2500 Chevy, it levels out the truck and gives it a stiffer ride. I test drove the latest offerings from the big 3 not too long ago, and also test drove some older models too. I went with my Dodge mainly because I got the best deal on it, but the biggest tie breaker was its power. I have the 4.7 like I mentioned before, and Fords 4.6 couldn't come close in power. When I was test driving the newer trucks the HEMI easily outpowered the 5.4, and from reading online they both get equal gas mileage. I wouldn't put one above the other quality wise, but the new F150 has a nice plastic interior, compared to the rougher looking Dodge interior. Once you get to the SuperDuty I don't really think the interior is nice, but really plain. To me it seemed as though Ford put its attention to overall ride and interior refinement, while Dodge put its attention to power and innovation. From what I've read and seen for 2006, Dodge has put an entirely new Chassis under the 1500, new front suspension (coil springs again), MDS on the HEMI (20% better fuel economy), and a lot of interior refinement to make it much more quiet. The new HEMI is rated the same as my 4.7 which makes it much more appealing now as fuel mileage is a concern for me and my 4.7 has been excellent on fuel. REAL WORLD driving I constantly am seeing 19-21mpg-I drive 90% highway at 65mph or a little less. The new redesigned Chevy's are supposed to be getting some big HP engines and a lot of refinements. I've seen some spy pics too and they are looking much nicer. Ford really needs to step up their power to compete, and I can't wait for a new redesigned SuperDuty.
Funny how things work. Dodge introduces many new thing over the years, as stated earlier, but what happened to their extended cab version of the Ram??? It must be the "small 4 door they are offering" I think that it would look better as an ext cab, but that is my $.02. I think they got the idea right with the "mega cab" idea as most of these are daily commuters and who doesn't need a little extra space when going to the grocery store? Or taking the dog along on a road trip with 3 kids? I think that Ford and Chevy will be doing it soon.
I don't like the infamous Dodge front end that gets glued to everything they produce, but I will probably buy one simply because the wife gets a company discount buying Chrysler vehicles. Just turned 34k on my 05 and it hasn't missed a beat so I will be keeping it til she dies. Next time around though I will be going with the 8' bed in CC SRW fashion.
I didn't have the time to read every post but will say this. Dodge killed their extended cab models after the '02 model year I believe, going with regular cab or 4 door models.
The Dodge 4 door models have LESS interior room than most other extended cab models built by the competition. My father's Silverado extended cab has more room than a Dodge 4 door by far.
The Mega Cab kind of goes too far the other way. It is huge. I have to admit, I kind of like it (the front end change is awful though - I like the '03-'05 front ends much better). or the idea of it anyway.
Last week, I went to look at a 2004 Ram CCLB and took my family with me. I think it would have had enough rear room for my kids but I want room for adults as well. I looked at a 2006 F-250 CCLB and the rear seat room is much larger than the Dodge.
Now that the Mega Cab is available, there is more competition. I'm leaning towards Ford but I will have to at least take a look at the Dodge whereas I would not have if the Mega Cab didn't exist.
Maybe Dodge should just quit making trucks. They havent got it right yet. Will they ever. I am amazed at whos in charge of Dodge trucks designs. I think a kindergartner could do better. I never could see what people see in Dodge. I dont see anything really just an inferior product.

That's a tad harsh man. I drive a Dodge and there are some features that are better than the previous Ford I owned.
Sorry about that. I hope your Dodge gives you good luck. I hjust think the Dodge peole in charge off trucks could do a heck off a lot better then they do.

I agree and disagree. I currently have an 02 Ram QC and I'll never buy a "regular" extended cab after owning this truck. I've had 3 adults in the back seat for a 2 hour trip without one complaint, they had plenty of room. The SuperDuty has a HUGE back seat in the Crew Cab but this wasn't meant to compete with that, it was meant to compete with the regular extended cabs, where I feel Dodge is equal with interior room. The reason I'll never buy another extended cab is for the convienence of being able to open the rear doors without having to open the front door first. If I had to open the front door for every time I had to open the rear doors I would go insane after owning this truck. Its so much easier when your hands are full, you're in a rush, or have people that are getting into the truck when you already in the front seat with the 4 doors. I'll never need the mega cab or a full size crew cab, the quad cab gives me the best of both worlds-A regular size extended cab with the convienence of a crew cab doors.
BTW-I also don't like how the truck image makes its way to the car lineup, but Ford is the same way-everything looks like an explorer all the way down to the 500 and taurus.
