Ford started it; Ford will finish it!
I did find the hood ground strap, though...
Maybe I just need to see it on another truck?
Is it pretty obvious to see? Where on the firewall does it connect, and is there anything else on that connection that shares the ground connection?

I live in the NW (Tacoma area) and this last weekend I went over Stevens Pass (over 4000 ft...) when it was hot (high 80's), loaded for bear with my 10.5' camper and '71 Bronco in tow, and it didn't heat up at all........ It was quite a relief.
Also, I am running an overflow tank, so the radiator can stay full and push water out into the overflow tank when it gets hot, then suck it back in when it's cold. I think this helps a lot also.
Just my .02

Today I found my old 160 thermostat. As I put it in, I also swapped a Lincoln 460 thermostat housing with the 90 degree bend in place of the 'straight-up' housing. I did this because my new, larger-type distributor cap was sitting up against the rad hose, making it difficult to adjust ignition timing. I also had to cut down the hose and rotate it at the rad to get the perfect fit from the new housing. I started the truck up, 95 degrees outside (early evening) and went for a drive. WOW! The temp is exactly the same as what my 78 with 351M runs at! About one quarter scale on the gauge! I guess the 195 thermostat reads at three quarter scale. I am willing to bet that a 180 or 185 will put me at or just below 12 o'clock on the gauge. But, I am going to leave the 160 in there, since it warms up very quickly to operating temp, and it is summer. It doesn't bother me to put a 195 back in when the seasons get cooler.
I am so happy!
Now, if only I can cure the rough idle problem when warm... Hmmm
