I need to replace my Rad on my 94 F350 2wd, with automatic. In current form, one of the heater hoses runs to a tee from the heater core, then one leg runs to the block, the other to the bottom of the rad. The fitting in the rad has a very small orifice in it. I am looking at a used rad from a truck of the same year, yet it does not have this port. Can I just run the hose to the block or will this cause me problems?
The used rad is also from a manual, so if I use it, I will be running a large after market trans cooler.
Since these seem to be pretty hard to find, would a PSD rad fit? from what year truck?
My truck didn't have the tee, but my understanding is that most bypass this anyway with no ill results. Like you said, you'd just need to account for some sort of a transmission cooler.
I believe that hose is just to send hot coolant from the engine to the radiator to warm up the trans fluid a little faster. It can be bypassed. Just plug it or eliminate the tee all together with new heater hose. I did it on my 94 when I put in a trans fluid t-stat. You will be o.k. with the aftermarket trans cooler provided it a larger one. I don't think the PSD radiators are compatible. I believe the core support was changed, but I am not sure about that.

Agreed, I had to bypass mine (with a bolt in the hose and a bunch of clamps) when I put a Champion on my 94, because I couldn't find a fitting anywhere that would fit that damned Champion radiator. No idea what they used.
Didn't seem to make any difference to my E4OD's performance, even on cold mornings.
