It is a bad idea to use E85 in any vehicle not set up for it. I suppose in an emergency it'll get you going but I would very quickly use it up and fill the tank up with the correct gasoline. One reason is that E85 will be corrosive to your 1997 truck's fuel system. I really doubt that it will run that good on it either.
