assuming everything else is in proper tune, youd probably see a 2 mpg increase just on the exhaust, and about 25-30 horse. for exhaust id say full dual 2 1/2 or 3" with x-pipe crossover, and skip the cat
sounds interesting. and inexpensive too! so 2mpg just exaust what if i do the headers too?
and what if i install one of thoose air flow kits that promise 30 to 40 hp?
id suggest raising your compression to 9 or 9.5-1, youll get better mileage and more power because when you raise compression you raise efficiency, thats why i said d3ve heads and flat top pistons, or d0ve heads and stock dished ones, throw good headers on, a nice carb intake- or even the stock carb intake will work, smallish carb like a 600 cfm edelbrock... basically just look for any old 460 that you could rebuild and swap in
the stock injectors are sized appropriately, if you went any smaller on injectors all youd do is wear the new ones out because theyd be at a higher duty cycle

If i installed smaller rails with new injectors you dont think that would help?
nope i really doubt it. you could pull the injectors that are in it out and have them sonic cleaned and tested... theyll atomize the fuel better and possibly get better mileage... but i wouldnt change injector size

i'll try that too....
well tomarow i should notice a difference after plugs/wires/o2 sencer/ misc
another thing id do is a compression check- as long as youre changing plugs it isnt any more work- and itll tell you if theres something seriously wrong with the engine already... with 4mpg washing through there you may have screwed up your rings and have blowby... another thing to do is check the timing

for the timing- being its computer controlled but still has a distributor- you have to find and unplug the spout connector (little grey plug that goes between the computer and the distributor that lets you change initial timing without the computer screwing with it) and time it with it unplugged, then plug it back in and test drive it... it should be about 10 degrees.
it runs too smooth and has lots of power. mpg on the highway is actually pretty good...mabye 13 or better. weird huh? and 4mpg in the city...
i dont think its a compression problem, but im going to take it in next week and have compression tested and a diagnostic ( i dont have a compression tester)
That is, i will take it in if my tune up doesnt do the trick
