I'm wanting to retrofit an E4OD into my 1978 F250. I do have a lot of experience with cars but I have never rebuilt a transmission. I have seen my buddy rebuild a TH350 and it looked pretty easy. I went out and bought an ATSG manual and a video and watched it and this honestly seems like this is something I can do as long as I stay organized and pay attention to detail.....anyway.... I was wondering if any of you have any tips or tricks that I should know before I embark on this(Things you learned the hard way, things to look for, ect.) I'm not in a rush. I'm still in the gathering information phase so feel free to dump all the information you got on me.
Please no negatave comments IE: you can't do it, or shouldn't do it.
This is something I really want to do. If I have to learn something the hard way, I still learn something. Any help you guys can give is more than appreciated.
I think the transmission and engine work in concert. I do not think that the E40D is the trick. The C6 is much easier, if you want mileage, try a rear end change.
Well not to be "NEGATIVE", but the E4OD is an electronic transmission, how are you going to tell the trans electronically what to do? Is your 460 fuel injected and computerized?
