I bought some of the plastic bulb covers at autozone yesterday, blue ones, and put them on my under dash curousy lights, really looks cool at night considering the truck is blue and all. I'm going to get a cover for the bulb inside the dome light too. I looked at my heater/ A/C panel that lights up and it appears to me that the plastic is just clear plastic and the bulbs must have a cover over them which would mean it would be an easy fix. I plan to convert to all blue dash lights when I swap to my 100mph cluster. The truck is blue so its a nice touch. Once I get the dome light bulb changed out today the interior will look very cool at night when the lights are on. The blue is nice b/c when you switch on the interior lights while driving you can still see the road and see inside!

there is actually a filter inside the heater controls, flush against the rear of the faceplate. I don't see the problem with changing it out; the plate is held on with 4 white plastic rivets that should be cut and then the filter should be able to be pulled out. Use bolts or other rivets to fasten the plate back on because they're hidden anyway. I'd do it but I actually like the blue bulbs
For all concerned: Wal-mart has blue, red, amber, green, and clear 194 bulbs. They also carry the gel covers in the 194 as well as turn signal size bulbs along with the sleves for the dome light bulbs.
Just a heads up

The best way to go about this is to use a bright white bulbe and paint it, or use bubl covers. You can get both at summit racing. Ive dont this on all my vehicles. Also, the white led's work great also, but youll have to do a little soldering with resistors to get those to work, and you can get all the stuff from radio shack. It all depends on how much effort you want to put into it.
You guys think there would be any way to find black light bulbs for them, the paint the numbers and the needles with flourescent paint or something? I dunno, always thought about it. If it would work there'd be less glare I would think. Maybeee....
I have pulled a few dashes appart from 70's modle F series and they all had white bulbs. The colours you see came from little round coloured discs put over the bulb holes inside the dash. I live in Australia, so we got slightly different dashes to you because we drive on the otherside of the road. Anyway NAVA make these little rubber covers for bulbs in any colour you like, including green, blue, yellow and red, and they only cost something like $2 Australian for a packet of 6. Im not sure but Im guessing you can get NAVA brand lights, swithches, wires and accessorys in the USA?
