I recently put a 6inch lift on my truck and 35/13.5/16 mickey thompson bajaclaws, now my speedo is off. What programer should I get to fix this problem, The truck has the 6.8L v10 and I can't find a programer that has that option in it.
There isn't a programmer that can correct for tire ratioon the V10, however, a Ford dealer can reprogram for 35s and smaller. The other choice is SL Truspeed, which is the route i went. Works great.
Since you used 35" tires, I recommend you use a dealer to recal the speedo. Besides your ABS system will be able to function properly since the new programming adjusts that module. Tru-Speed will not fix the ABS module.
If one was to change the gears (say to 4.56) so that the rpm's are almost back to where they were with stock tires and 3.73's, would the ABS unit be in sync too? I put 35s on my 2002 F350 PSD auto CC SB 4x4 with 3.73s and my power is down. I want to regear when I have the $$ and assume the ABS would need no adjustment. What do you think?
The truspeed calibrates the signal to reflect the true vehicle speed. This signal is seen by all vehicle systems and therefore all systems including the ABS function as they should.
Once the truspeed is removed your vehicle will perform at its stock setting. The truspeed can be adjusted for future tire size changes.
Going to the dealership for a tire size reprogram often costs near what a new truspeed retails for, if the dealership tosses in 1 hour of labor, in addition to the ~$75 for the reprogram.
